Advice tapering off 1-1.25 mg of Ativan

I've been taking roughly 1-1.25 mg (.75 - 1mg in the morning, which is a a .5 pill and half of a .5 pill or two .5's, and and sometimes a .5 pill in the evening)of Ativan for 2-3 months, and I'd like to begin a taper plan. I've been taking more or less as needed which is why I say roughly. I looked at the Ashton manual, but I didn't  see a taper plan for anything lower than 3mg. Does anyone know of any links that would provide me with accurate information for tapering off a dosage this low, using the Ashton method? Another method I'm considering is pill splitting; if I divided a .5 into 8 slivers and decreased my dosage by 1/8 of a .5 pill every two weeks, would that be a slow enough taper?

Yes, you would be cutting at a rate of .0625mg every two weeks (based on 1mg starting dose), which is slow enough, especially for a short-term user.  (You might even be able to go faster than this...try to cut at 10% of your previous dose every 10-14 days, which is the basic Ashton rule of thumb.)  If you have trouble cutting your tablets accurately, consider getting a scale.
