GOING BACK UP TO PRIOR DOSE AFTER A DOWN TAPER

I was advised that if I taper down and w/d symptoms get worse I should go back to previous dose until I am stabilized.  Is this advisable or could it lead to "kindling". Thank you for you help.

There isn't a definite answer for this question, but if you needed to go up, you needed to go up.  Kindling is generally thought of as worsening withdrawals due to multiple benzodiazepine courses and withdrawals.

I think this is going to be different for different people. Some people said it helped them to go back up in dose, but I did it and it didn't help and it added 4 months to my taper time.

Absolutely!

No. "Kindling" (if there really is such a thing) results from the repeated withdrawal from psychoactive substances.  Dose changes/adjustments are NOT "withdrawals".

I updosed several times while doing C&H, and once again during my microtaper.  The only effects were is resolve by withdrawal discomfort.
