Pain management

Why is it that the morning pain/ daily pain I experience doesn't respond to any amount of pain killers? Is there anything I can do for my back and neck? Stretching doesn't really seem to help. My doctor suggested prescription string ibuprofen but I'm worried about making my stomach worse.

I tried a lot of things, ibuprofen, CBD, alpha lipoic acid, etc and none them helped at all really. The thing that helped most was baths with Epsom salts. It distracted and eased things a little but I mostly had to endure until it subsided unfortunately.

I know you said stretching doesn't seem to help, but I found after the initial worsening for a couple of days (stretching muscles not used to stretching), stretching and yoga really help loosen up my neck and shoulders, and some of the tension headache.  Hot epsom salt baths and heat packs are also useful, both before and after stretching.  Ibuprofen/advil or Aleve may help a bit, but as you said, watch for stomach upset.  I have severe muscle issues, and aleve helps a bit, but not much, so I only take it if I am in unbearable pain, or I have errands outside the home that I have to push through.  Narcotics didn't help at all.  (I had an old script that I had percocet left from - it didn't help the pain from tightness/tension at all)
