In a bad situation. Probably can't jump yet right?

I'm at .6mg total ativan per day, split into 4 smaller doses. So that's roughly 6mg valium equivilancy? The ativan is giving me severe vertigo when I take it. I can't tolerate it right now. At all. My parents are screaming at me like its my fault the doctor decided to prescribed me this. I'm still too high on my dose to jump right? What would happen if I jumped anyways? Am I low enough that I wouldn't seizure or have psychosis? It would probably be impossible to sleep without it right? I've tapered this far successfully, but I'm as bad as I have ever been. Idk what to do...

I certainly wouldn't jump at 6mg of Valium.  I'm guessing things could get a whole lot worse.  :)--V

Between a rock and a hard place, sounds like.  I think I might try to stretch out the time between doses and see what happens.  Ativan kicks in very quickly, so if things began to go south you could take your dose.  That's what I did before I found BB for taper help.

.6mg is roughly equivalent to .3mg of Xanax.  I couldn't have jumped successfully at that level, personally.  I tried to jump at .25mg and couldn't handle the symptoms.

Looking at your signature, you're tapering very slowly and in tiny increments so I'm guessing there's a reason for doing so.  Have you considered switching to another benzodiazepine to see if it also causes the severe vertigo?

I don't think you'll have seizures or psychosis, but it'd be very unpleasant to jump from such a dose.

If you've become intolerant to Ativan, can you cross to Valium and continue your taper?

Best wishes,

CP

I may have to switch. I tried valium before though and found it to be highly unpleasant. I disliked the chest body high feeling. It gave me a panic attack and I only took .5mg of of the valium when I tried it. I may not have an option though as many people say valium works so much better for them. I can only imagine it'll be very scary either way. I'm tapering these tiny increments, because of insomnia. That and the super intense w/d and symptoms that convince me I'm dieing.

I see that you're cutting once a month.  What happens if you speed that up to every ten days or two weeks?

Frankly, insomnia is most likely to be an issue at some point anyway, so I wouldn't let that be a factor in determining the pace of my taper.  The intense w/d symptoms are definitely something you want to avoid, though.

Once a month? Is my signature appearing correctly? Think I usually cut 3 times a month. Sometimes only two. I try to cut every 10 to 14 days if I can.

I found gradually switching to valium using the Ashton manual for the first few days from clonazepam gave me panic attacks but then my body adjusted..holding now at 8 mg for a few mos now.
