I'm signe and I'm looking to taper off of 1 mg clonazepam (on for 14 years, at doses up to 8 mg). I'd like to use the Ashton method, but need some advice making it fit my dose and perhaps slowing it down even more. thanks for having me.

Hello signe  Welcome to BenzoBuddies.

We are happy to have you. You will get plenty of advice and support here.  The generally accepted taper rate is 5-10%, every 10 to 14 days.  The rate can be adjusted to meet your needs.  Tapering slowly can help keep withdrawal symptoms manageable.  Although symptoms can be severe at times, they are temporary.  We do eventually recover from this experience.

The Ashton Manual  is an excellent resource for information about these medications and gives a lot of information about withdrawal/tapering.

Our members are a caring bunch of people who have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, and will share their experiences with you.

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to”Create a signature”

Feel free to post on any of our dedicated boards.

Welcome hej, There is a clonazapem group here somewhere. I just thought I would reply since no one else had to wish you well and give you encouragement, it looks like you have come along way. Finding a doctor who is familiar with the Ashton Method would solve some of your problems. Margrita is correct you will find more help on the links she provided.
