It ends when it ends.  Unfortunately there is no standard formula to calculate how long it will take to heal.  Everyone is different, our brains our different and we all heal in varying lengths of time.  I am almost 14 months jumped and the way I'm feeling I probably still have a ways to go, then again I could heal tomorrow, you just don't know.

Given that you took two different benzos for a total of 6 years and then decided to C/T, it's no wonder that you feel awful. Your nervous system is trying to overcome a lot. Are you working with a doctor?

Little one I have a doctor but she is with the va and she has canceled my last three appointments. She  has something Personel going on and she is worthless when it comes to this. She said after 14 days off I would be through everthing and feel better she doesn't have a clue. Here I am like 47 days out  and I feel like crap.. I just want it to go away.

Hey there,

You took a mighty big leap. Honestly I seeked help from "Drs" only to come to understand that they don't know or want to know about Benzo withdrawal. There is nothing they can do but prescribe something else for you and they will try.

For me jumping came with added withdrawal which was a real shock to think that I was off the crap and now felt even worse. Everyone is different but I suffered withdrawal for a very long time, however as I write this I can tell you that it will end, it's just different for each person as to when.

What did help me: Walking, nothing crazy and just the amount that I could do. I would often cry for no reason at all during my walks and would wear sunglasses and let the tears flow.

Behavioral Cognitive therapy, showed me how to changed my thoughts about how I felt and it helps a lot to stay to the "Right here, right now" The mind is a powerful thing and BCT is more then most think. I didn't believe it could help me but there isn't much else so I tried it and it helped keep my mind from going down into to very dark thoughts. I still use it now when I am stressed.

Take care of yourself and take one day at a time, just do what you can, some days I managed very little others days more but don't just sit here on this forum and read all the pains because I found it only made me feel worse. Read the success stories and seek you windows, those are you breaks.

I kept a calendar to watch for progress and rated days and symptoms. It took a long time but slowly I began to see progress. You will too!

In time you WILL recover but for now you'r brain is trying to heal and it's not easy and it will try and fail but it will keep trying.

And when you really feel horrible sometimes all I could do was close my eyes and repeat "Every day in every way I am getting better"

One day you WILL recover, now you just need time to pass and regardless of what you do, Time will heal you.

Anne that was great and I really needed that. Thank you so much and I will take your advice. Every day and every way sounds like a quote I heard on a meditation video on you tube. Good stuff.

Thanks again!

Hi bro,

I am on the same mark as you tho my usage is longer, 8 years...

I am on day 46 benzo free and of course I am living with a nightmare all the time day and night. I also don't know when this shit storm will stop.

Im on day 67 or so and starting to have some small glimmer of hope now. Hopefully this is a start, I think I have read alot of people start to feel really good by month 4 and by month 6, alot are healed. We just gotta hang tough every damn day.

I hear you Toughtime :tickedoff:. I was told the same thing by an acupuncturist, a pharmacist, and a doctor. They have no experience so they don't know. They're probably trying to help us feel better  which of course only makes us mad and feel worse.

Expectations are everything! Reading other's experiences has given me more realistic ones. I've gotten much busier doing stuff that isn't too stressful, that I enjoy, and that I control as far as time goes. This has helped time pass more quickly and allowed me to feel a bit of happiness in all of this. Hopefully there is something you can find to help make your days a bit brighter while you soldier on. Best wishes.

Toughtime - I've done this before (come off klonopin, and xanax too years ago...) and I'm usually feeling some relief by 8 weeks. You should start feeling some windows very soon!
