Is there anything to take for anxiety?

In way of supplements or oils...anything that would quiet this storm? I spend all day almost trying to calm my system..deep breathing, mindfulness....just feel I need something that might help take the edge off....

Thank you...I haven't yet; I guess I would need a script for it? I've taken Benadryl and sometimes it helps, but then later, I have odd physical feelings from it

Yes, you need a script. Hydroxyzine works very differently than Benadryl.

This is from Psych Today:

Vistaril (hydroxyzine) is another medication that is sometimes used to treat anxiety. Like benzodiazepines, hydroxyzine's effects occur quickly. Unlike benzodiazepines, hydroxyzine is non-habit forming and does not cause tolerance, withdrawal, or memory impairment. The most significant side effect of hydroxyzine is sedation, but this tends to decrease over time.  The anti-anxiety effects of hydroxyzine are thought to be due to its blocking of the histamine receptor; however, hydroxyzine appears to be more effective for anxiety than other antihistamines (such as Benadryl) and this may be due to its interaction with a subset of serotonin receptors.

Thank you Atro66 to think to help others in the midst of your own trials...thanks again; I'll inquire with doctor about it :)

Hydroxyzine will take the edge off and help you sleep but you have to use it sparingly. If you use it too often, like most OTC sleep aids, it just doesn't work anymore.

That's great...I may have to look into it; in the midst of withdrawal though-so not sure it would work for me...

i went from not even to be going out of the house to going fishing in 5 days

nhbuck, how much Remeron are you on?  I just bumped up to 30mg from 22.5mg.  Right now I have severe DR/DP.  The reason for me bumping up was that it seemed to lose it's full effect after a few months at 15mg.  Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Sorry about the hijack hardtocope!

Just be aware that Remeron is an AD with it's own set of withdrawal symptoms. A lot of people have also said it causes weight gain. That is not always a bad side affect.
