cold turkey on supplements?

Tapered from 3-4 mg Ativan to .125 mg at bedtime only.  Also take 100 mg trazedone. I've been at .125 for 5 nights and it's bad.  4-5 broken hours of sleep. Pain. Increased anxiety. Blah blah blah

My FMD had suggested many supplements: Ashwagansha, L- Thiamine, activated B vitamins, Valerian, Poppy, Lemon balm, and although I've been on them for several weeks, I notice no improvement in insomnia or anxiety. In fact, the anxiety seems to be increasing.  I've developed obsessive type thinking patterns that are making things much worse.

Perhaps the Poppy works but it may be the effect from the alcohol in the tincture.

Anyway, all the supplements are a drain on my limited finances, and additionally, keeping track of the daily schedule is causing more obsession and a psychological dependence on them to get sleep.  Sleep?  I am only getting 4-5 broken hours. Is that Benzo brain or what? Having an obsession with something that doesn't seem to be working anyway...

I think the  idea of acceptance, that this is my life for now and one day I WILL be healed, will be calming.  More calming than worrying about all these supplements.

Has anyone been in my shoes?

I want to stop all the supplements and rely only on my .125 mg Ativan and 100 mg Trazadone but I'm afraid of eliminating the supplements.

Also have my trip to Alaska coming up an don't want to make things more complicated but the thought of dragging around my box of supplements sounds crazy too.

I'm thinking that it can't get much worse if I stop the supplements but worried they are having some effect I'm not aware of...

Thanks for any advice

Mindy

Ive been a supplement free advocate while tapering. Unless you have a deficiency its risky in WD. You'll prob feel better really and save some money and worries.

Youre still taper so you can simply do a slower taper instead of using supps.

Doctors MDs and NDs alike know nothing about benzo wd healing processes and only know 'how to make you calm' which is to recommend every GABAA agonist... Methylated vitamins is a gamble they can really rev you up and cause serious problems even for people not in a benzo wd.

This may be true in my case, actually.  I've made the assumption that my cut of .0625 has been causing the increase in my symptoms, but after stopping the supplements yesterday, I'm thinking it may have been the things the doctor recommended that actually increased my anxiety...

Hard to be sure after one day but I was able to manage 6 hours of sleep last night

Thanks!

Stick to being off supplements for a while to really see if they are or aren't helping. I'm curious what you notice.
