First Post to Introduce Myself

Hello,

I am glad to have found the the forum.  I have been tapering off of Clonazepam since December.  I had been consistently taking .25mg a night for nearly two years. I also take 10mg of Ambien most nights.  I am currently down to .06mg for the Clonazepam.  I will tackle the Ambien problem after I am through with this.  I tried to jump from .125mg in March and I had the most terrifying experience of my life, so I went back to .125 for a few weeks and then jumped down to .06.  I am planning to switch to water mixing, but I am really scared.  I live most days in a fog.  My doctor thinks I can just stop, and she doesn't think I have a problem.  I guess my body is really sensitive because I am feelings a lot of the symptoms.  I want to stop taking this poison.  I am looking for help and support.  There is nobody in my life that I can find to talk to about or is going through Benzo withdrawl.  I can't even find a Benzowise doctor in my area.  I hope I am doing this right.

Best,

Cloverfield15

Welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you as a new member.  Many doctors don't know much about benzo withdrawal, and few know how hard or how long benzo withdrawal/healing can be.

You'll find lots of information and support here.  Our members have been through all aspects of withdrawal, and you're likely to find  people who understand what you're going through. For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that.  One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster.

Having some withdrawal symptoms is normal, especially near the end of a taper and for a few months after discontinuing the medication.  First/only withdrawals after a slow taper tend to be easier than multiple reinstatements/withdrawals over time, which may make symptoms worse and longer lasting. The most common symptoms are anxiety and insomnia but there are many others. These are temporary and will go away in time.

Here are a few links you may find useful:

Withdrawal Support Board

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field. Section III explains and describes symptoms, and there is also a section with suggested taper schedules.

Please take the time to Create a Signature.  This will allow others to see where you are in the process so they can better support you.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to the forum. Most people here have either had or are having the same experience as you. It's not an easy trip but certainly is doable. Read some posts and look at some blogs. If there is information you can't find, don't be afraid to ask. Some one will come along and share their wisdom.
