Worried about my rapid taper...

Hi everyone. As you can see I am tapering Ativan .125 mgs every 7-10 days on average. Kind of forced into it due to health going to poop and then left with no primary care doctor when my doctor retired and got no new doctor in the office. Because I don't have health insurance finding a new physician was hard, and one willing to accept me couldn't fit in a new patient until the 31st. By then, I will be cutting it close with pills..and have no promises this doctor will even prescribe, so I figured it's better to go with my previous doctors tapering rate than be put in a cold turkey position.

By the time I am out of Ativan I will have been tapering for about 16-17 weeks (4months or so).

I cold turkeyed Ativan once and it was hell, I reinstated at twice the amount I previously took after 7 weeks...then took for 8 weeks at  around 2 mgs a day, only at night.

For anyone that might be able to tell me..should I be worried excessively about a long acute and withdrawal. I mean 4 months tapering isn't exactly 4 weeks. I am really worried. Lots of people say it was too fast on some threads and I am asking for trouble. I guess I am just looking for reassurance that despite how long I might have tapered I might be in withdrawal hell. I am so scared

That's just awful.  I would think that the new doc would prescribe it for you.  If you go in and say that you've been taking it for years and you are slowly cutting down, I think the humane thing would be to prescribe you more.  Is that on the 31st of May?  And you think you will be done with your pills by then?  That's pretty fast but at least it isn't CT.

Hi, I've moved your post to the Withdrawal Support board.  Your taper is not, strictly speaking, a rapid taper (I tapered off 4 mgs of xanax in about 6 weeks and then ran out), and many more members read this board so you'll probably get more help here.  I hope you can get someone to prescribe for you.

No you should not. Be too worried 4 months is enough time don't look at the time just go by the amount of. Benzos you have. Putting an ending g

Date just adds pressure. Just cut ocassionay if you have 4 months worth ride it all the way down until you hit zero micro tapering might make. Minor Difference bit nothing special . If I did it again I'd of

Tapered a little faster. Because at the end  I drug it out for a long time I was  a scared and had no one for support and everyone's advice was rapid detox or stay on the benzos. Just remind yourself every two weeks to cut and only talk to people who are willing to hear you out and I think it's better without drs they just kept trying g to hand me meds that I repeatedly told them fucked me up before benzos.  I only met one Dr that kinda understood and was ok still A drug pusher

My taper was barely a taper and more of a cold-turkey. A few responses I got on here were people not believing I would make it when I told them my plans. But here I am, healed and doing so much in my life I wouldn't have ever been able to do on klonopin!

It was an extremely difficult first four months. I did think about reinstating but I knew it would be a mistake.

Pumpkin,

I'm doing the same thing only a little different, cutting A by .0625g every week.  I feel kinda crappy today but plan to cut tonight.  Honestly I feel like the difference between cutting and not cutting is almost the same at this point - I feel kinda bad but I can work.

I don't have to get off bcs of meds but I've got a business trip in a month and I don't want the sensation of my throat closing during the trip.  Honestly night before last I think I took less than .1875g (hard to be exact when it's so small) and I did ok.  I went to .1875g last night.

Hope this helps.

Tiny

im doing this so half ass ive been cutting and scraping with my fingernails the whole time; i just CANT do the liquid taper thing or go to where im cutting .000002 down to .000001999 and so forth. cant do it, its like a mental block. its totally stupid i know, but i dunno i just wont do this with scales or liquid titration or any sort of thoughtful intelligence lol. meh.

my doc just gave me 2mg diazepam pills though, theyre small enough to lead me on down off this crap, i can cut these down to 1/4s pretty easily and thats all i need. if i actually get to 1mg or maybe below im taking a deep breathe and jumping the hell off. i went into what felt like acute before i ever even started tapering...curse this medication.

its the great push now to the end.....
