Heartburn sensation?

Hey guys

Right now I am experiencing some type of deep, uncomfortable burning sensation at the base of my esophagus and chest area. Feels like heartburn possibly? I never had heartburn before so I don't have any idea what to call this symptom. It's been like this since I woke up this morning 3 hours ago. I'm trying to take deep breaths in and out but it's not helping. Does anyone have or had this symptom? I have no idea how to relieve this pain.

It sounds exactly like the heartburn I have been experiencing. I also take Prozac, but had the heartburn before I stated taking it. Other have said the Prozac can really mess with your digestive system and said they got the heartburn after starting taking it. Scary stuff. Good chance what you are feeling is heartburn. If you have never been checked for the pain before though, I would talk to a doctor. I take over the counter Zantac and drink Mylanta and it gives some relief.

Go to the store and get some nexium - this has worked wonders for me.  Your pain will probably go away in an hour or two after taking one.  I had some intense heartburn a few times in this ordeal and it worked like a charm..

I started occasional heartburn 10 years ago, and it would sometimes be

very disabling for an hour; I had to walk out of restaurants and deal with

regurgitation and spasms that were very painful.

I mostly solved the problem by not eating within 2 hours of bedtime.

Stomach acids injure the lower esophagus.

And I learned that in a crisis where I could not swallow, forcing myself

to swallow some water would clear it up.

I had heartburn which arose during taper through withdrawal and then subsided.  However, now at the 7 month mark of jumping, I started with bad heartburn....YUK.  I have taken over the counter Famotidine (acid reducer) to get by.  Try to also avoid sweets, fat and acidic foods to help that go away.  I did not have any side effects with famotidine.  Be well.

PS:  At this same time I also got return of some mild symptoms such as nausea, aches/pains, headache and some dizziness.  Healing just takes time (unfortunately).  Bummer.

Hey thanks for all the replies.

Actually I am questioning now if this is heartburn because I don't get the acid reflux or any stomach fluids coming up the esophagus. It's just this intense deep burning that sits at the base of my esophagus and middle of my chest. And I have not had any food sensitivities or any symptom flare ups that are caused by food. I can eat sugar and fats ok without anything flareing up (although I know this is unhealthy). I just have no idea what this symptom is...I am wondering if I'm the only one with it.

I didn't have acid in my throat or anything like that either.. you're not the only one.. do yourself a favor and try the nexium for a few days - it will stop the pain if it is heartburn..

Or, you can just stay in pain and keep wondering if there is something wrong with your heart..

To me, it is a no brainer..

It only happened yesterday but if it comes back again, I will try the nexium. Thanks for the suggestion.
