After quitting Klonopin, an year, I started having neurological pain in my right leg. The pain gets worse when I walk and sometimes I can’t walk. They are mostly in the front of my leg down my calve. Two weeks ago after having a short cold, the pain spread to my lower back and the back of my leg. The pain is almost constant, very strong and excruciating and I can’t sleep since then. I have been taking for two days NSAID’s, but they make my psychological symptoms even worse and raised my blood pressure. I tried R-lipoic acid and benfotiamineexa, but exacerbated my psychological symptoms.

I am very desperate. I hoped that time would have lessened my pains, but they go worse.

Please, if someone has experienced relief from such pains, I’d appreciate it

Hey,

Ive had a looooong battle with neurological pain, weakness and numbness. In my case its on the left side of the body, specially on my left hand.

I tried many things as well. The things that brought me relief have been long hot showers (I wish I had a bathtub, I think baths would be even better), and also the ocassional dose of ibuprophen.

I have seen some improvement, albeit slow, a few months down the line. Time has been the best healer for me.

I did freak out a little at first and went to the doctor for every conceivable nerve test, all came back negative. I described my case here:

Hope you heal quickly!

I gave up gluten.  That cut my pain down by 50 percent.  Now I have given up dairy...hoping to get more relief.  Otherwise, physical therapy.

I take magnesium glycinate (400 mg daily).  It can help with both nerve and muscle pain.  However, a small percentage of people find magnesium makes their overall side effects worse.  (It doesn't effect my symptoms, but if I don't take it, I am in more pain)

Arent you just prolonging your withdrawal with gaba agonists? That's alot of mag glycinate.

Thank you so for all the answers.

From two months ago i have pains in a tooth, which were with numbness in my cheek and hotness. The dentists say that the reason for that is not in my tooth. Before the benzos i had arthritis in my jaw. When it comes i have pain in my jaw when i eat, but never had hotness and numbness. I think this is a result of an inflamed facial nerve. After a meal, although i don't eat from the sick tooth side I still have pain and hotness.

I started to think that getting the tooth removed will solve my problems. Has anyone experienced such problems ?

Im so sorry to hear about your tooth pain.

During acute I had AWFUL jaw and face pain on the left side. My jaw kept jumping aroung and twiching involuntarily. My physical therapist said I had an inflammed facial nerve. According to the Ashton manual this is a common symptom:

" Headaches are usually of the "tension headache" type, due to contraction of muscles at the back of the neck, scalp and forehead - often described as a "tight band around the head". Pain in the jaw and teeth is probably due to involuntary jaw clenching, which often occurs unconsciously during sleep.

At the same time, the nerves to the muscles are hyperexcitable, leading to tremor, tics, jerks, spasm and twitching, and jumping at the smallest stimulus." - See section under muscle symptoms.

Its great that you had your teeth checked out. If your dentist said that the teeth are in good shape then it would be a shame to lose a good piece and keep having pain afterwards. :(

In my case, that particular symptom ended after acute (3 months after the jump). Only time really helped out.

Best of lucks!!

My biggest issues right now are with muscle (and some nerve) pain.  My anxiety is under control for the most part (however, if I miss taking the magnesium a few days, my anxiety increases and I get disoriented and can't focus).  I have taken magnesium since before tapering klonopin, due to migraines (which, ironically, were caused by the klonopin!).  Magnesium specifically helps nerve and muscle issues.

Magnesium is a required mineral in our diet.  It is thought that many people's severe anxiety is actually caused by deficiencies of magnesium and certain b vitamins.

Benzojoe123, im glad that your pain are subsiding with time, this gives me hope. Regarding my tooth pain, tomorrow I  will be given a brace with which I will sleep to reduce the pressure on my teeth.

Have you tried turmeric for your pain?

Dolphinator78, i’ve tried magnesium citrate two times, but it increases my anxiety and restlessness.
