If you need to take the prednisone why worry about it? I am sure that your body will adjust and heal. Try not to worry about the things you cannot control; know it's hard, but peace will also help you heal.

I know worry is not good but I am in such bad shape and I need to know if I will still heal. I need to know what to expect I have a small child that I can barely care for so I need a plan if I am never going to recover.

Doesn't prednisone cause anxiety? I know when I have taken it in the past for short durations (lung inflammation from bronchitis), I always feel anxious and cannot sleep. Can you talk to your doctor about this? It may have nothing to do with using a benzo and just a side effect from your current medication.

And don't get too hung up on what you read here about kindling. It's easy to become crazy by what you read on here.

I am on 60 mg Cortisone for 3 months now. I was very frightened that it would make me in any way mentally sick.

I noticed that it makes my condition bigger - when I was happy, it made me a little bit maniac, when I was sad, it made me a little bit more sad. But you can handle it,- at least I could. I hope for you that you won't need as much from the med as I need now, but if its necessary, you will have to take it like I do. Important is how to stop it, -depends on how long you took it - in my case I will have to taper it. Other side effects I have is that it pushes you, makes you really awake, but this depends on how much you take and how often the day (one or more dosages).

I mean, - you will learn how to deal with it. For me, there were much worse drugs like antibiotics. At the moment it saves my life although it brings side effects like edema and other stupid stuff. It should be the goal not to take it for a long time and only in very small dosages, thats clear. Its a hormone..

But just to take your fears a little bit away - although I am messed up at the moment regarding my health, it saves my life - and because I am very trained dealing with emotions and withdrawal I can handle it.

I am sure, one day you will be able to get rid of the cortisone and then the healing will go on.

Thanks for your response. I hope your condition improves. Unfortunately I have been on it for 4 years already. So i know the side effects well. I am wortoed because my adrenals are not working. It is a mess. I just dont want it to also stop healing of my benzo withdrawl and be stuck like this forever:(

I am sorry to hear that BUT.... I needed so many meds while I was polydrugged with benzos and other psycho-meds. After having stopped them, the hormone system recovered slowly. For example the thyroid dosage I do need now is only a 3d of what I  needed while under benzos. Benzos have a deep impact on the adrenals, too. Perhaps you will get some relief at this war when you are finally bento-free. How high is the dosage of cortisone you need now? Have you ever tried TCM or supplements like Macca for the adrenals? I tried but for me that was too strong - but perhaps for you there are still options? I would not give that up. - hugs and a quick healing! In my case I tapered in the worst circumstances ever and finally made it - you can do that, too!!!! :smitten:

I had bad adrenal fatigue before and throughout benzos and withdrawal.  Am healing but, always concerned about crashes.  You might want to take a look at these websites about adrenal fatigue.  They are very good, (I've consulted with both doctors):

www.drlam.com

the Clymer center

They both talk about adrenal fatigue and taking Cortisone and Prednisone.  Hope this helps.
