Hello,

I am currently going through withdrawals and I'm scared, I've gone through this before and was clean for 3 years then one trip to the emergency room because of a panic attack changed everything. They put me on 6mgs of xanax, then I tapered quickly to 2mg of clonezepam and I'm feeling the pain. What happens to me mainly is that I suffer from health anxiety, so I feel neck, shoulder pains and then a weird pain like in between my left shoulder and I automatically think heart attack. I'm 32 years old, very rare to have a heart attack but it seems to be my biggest fear and everything I feel seems to always go to that! I'm living in hell. I'm pretty successful I've managed to retire at a young age, but I don't even enjoy my life. I want off these pills and I want all my pain to go away. I have the Apple Watch and my heart rate maintains pretty normal, I get these waves of anxiety like between 3-6 pm and I'm still tapering but gets worst when I take the pill. Need help and advice, need reassurance which is part of being a hypochondriac, I'm scared I'm going to die.

Hi Jrod2020 and welcome to BenzoBuddies.

I think most of us understand the fear of dying during this process, but there really is no reason to worry.  This is a miserable process and feels pretty scary at times, but you'll be okay.  It'll be good for you to be able to chat with others on the forum who've been through or are still going through the withdrawal process.

Let me give you some links to begin posting for support from the wider membership:

I highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.
