[do...]

Recommended Posts

My teeth was chattering tounge moving and my husband heard benadryl is used to calm extrapyramidal symptoms. I have been taking it 50 to 100 mg 4x a day for 2 days and it does seem to help. If you dealing with uncontrolled muscle movements you might want to try it.

Donna... I have this severely in every part of my face and body and was so afraid to try this as my cns has been so sensitized and I am still on the drug which is too powerful for me... Trying to taper...

I was afraid what Benadryl would do to me adding more sedation... And also I read that some antihistamines can cause it which is rare.....I took vistaril for 5 days which is an antihistamine and thought that's what caused mine after I rapidly cold turkeyed ativan... I read that it could... :'(

My head neck and face and arms contract convulse tremor severely....my eyes shut close spasm involuntarily teeth chatter and my mouth contracts downward in rapid succession with my neck convulsing with my mouth!!!! Usually 5 times with force in a row! I also get dystonic reactions all over my face....eyebrows go up forehead spasms restless legs...

I am so scared to try anything as tiny amounts of stuff either effect me 10 times as hard as someone else or i have an adverse reaction....

I'm so tempted to try this .... I've been suffering horribly... :'( does Benadryl cause dizziness and do you find it helps with anxiety? Do you plan on taking everyday? I'm scared this is a permanent condition... :'(

I forgot what extra pyramidal sxs means....

Sorry for my long horrible post.... please please keep me updated on your progress... You can pm me if you can....

Benadryl has always made me feel "rum dumb" so I am trading one thing for another but my symptoms were getting so distressing. It doesn't sedate me like it does others. It doesn't seem to be making any other symptoms worse.

I went cold turkey off my benzos. It wasn't by my choice. I had horrible full body shaking and spasms. It got better with propranolol. Right now the symptoms I have left most of all is tension in my jaw and upper back, tongue movements, tinnitus, hypochondriac and a weird feeling of limbs being really heavy and sometimes it seems I'm not in my body.

I too have been terrorfied that this is dyskenesia or dystonia. I have had to start telling myself how rare those are. I didn't have any of these symptoms before benzos or while on benzos. I did take seraquel and geodon which is what made me worry. I have just told myself TD is rare with atypicals and I had no symptoms before.

Benzo withdrawel is well known for tremors spazams ect I have come to believe the tongue and jaw are just tremors from my cns being out of control and it will subside as my cns heals.

Give the benadryl a try. It's a medication that is used with TD and other movement disorders. If it makes your withdrawal worse stop taking it and you should be better in a few days or a week. Who knows, it may help you. If your as frustrated as I am it's worth a little risk to get relief.

I wish you the very best in your taper! I really wish I could have tapered.
