Hi there:

I was on Clonazepam over three years ago and was able to taper. I have been having a plethora of health problems over the last five years, which began with black mold exposure. I went from a gregarious competitive athlete and dancer in my late 40s to a scared of life, depressed and anxious woman in my 50s. About 8 months ago I was put on Ativan for terrible gastric problems, as well as Remeron. About two months ago I began to taper both. I was on 1 mg Ativan and then went down to crumbs. All hell has broken loose: unable to sleep/ burning severe pain in buttocks and coccyx/ nausea 24/7/ burning in chest and stomach/ crying spells. Extreme depression. Terror/ tinnitus. I don't know where to turn. My doctor doesn't believe in the withdrawals. I have become more and more isolated from trauma and abuse in my family.

Hi Dancing gi  Welcome to Benzobuddies!

I am sorry to hear what you’re going through. Try not to worry, you are among friends here, we know what you are going through. It sounds like you have been tapering too quickly.  A gradual taper of 5-10% every 10-14 days is generally recommended. Withdrawal is awful, but it does get better. My doctor didn't understand withdrawal, many don't, you hang in there you will come through this.

I am going leave a link to the Ashton Manual, a great source of information about these types of medications and how to withdraw.

Thanks Margarita. I am going for a huge blood draw and multiple tests today. Do you think I should reinstate on the Benzo. Is relentless nausea and pain (especially pelvic) withdrawal symptoms: perhaps it is from the Remeron too. I have considered going to the ER but i don't think they will be able to help me.

Hi Dancing gi

I thought you were still on a small dose.  When did you have your last dose? If it was less than 2 weeks, you do have an option to reinstate and do a slower taper, reinstatement doesn't always work but if symptoms are unbearable, you have that choice.

Benzo Withdrawal is very severe in the early weeks off, If you do tough it out, it does get easier.  I was on Remeron for 3 years, I did a slow taper off, symptoms were similar to benzo withdrawal.

Good luck with the tests

Mine didn’t start until I was forced off 80 mg Valium equivalent in May 23, 2017 the burning coccyx started in late June and became unable to sit and lay down by mid July 😖😫😭 hope we heal soon , my heart hurts for you too 💞
