Distraction during tapering?

I know the general consensus...on benzobuddies.org is try to distract yourself from focusing on you sxs..that proves time and time again...how do you distract yourself when your tinnitus is ringing so loud and non stop 24/7...i have had this sx for 1 1/2 years and since tapering it has drove me insane..or how do you distract yourself when your whole body and different organs are in excruciating pain from the time you wake up till very late hours of the night aleast 18 hours out of 24 your in pain..or how can you ignore your vision being so bad you can hardly see anything but a blur in front of you or how do u distract yourself when your lightheaded and dizzy all day long...or when you have confusion,deppresion...and anxiety that 10x worse than your baseline anxiety...just to mention a few of the 30 or so sxs that i suffer and im not even done tapering..what will acute withdrawl be like..sheer terror i would imagine...so distraction is easier said than done when you have been broken down physically and mentally...your thoughts please...i don't know how to do it..i read, try to watch tv etc..nothing works for me i guess I'm just weak. 😢😢😢😢

Not to discourage you at all. This is just the reason some folks can't get off benzos. It wreaks havoc on your body in a way that doesn't seem possible. I had to learn how to accept the suffering and sometimes for days I was just a vegetable but I would set realistic goals. Walk my dog, walk myself, reach out to a friend, go out in public, lift weights (had no energy but I did it and started to notice myself getting stronger), watch the news....so on and so forth. Now those goals are make it through work, surf, take the dog on a long hike, bike ride. My goals have progressively gotten larger and more back to my usual self. Right now your goal is to make it through the hour. Why not start a journal/blog on here and put down how you feel. It helps for me to look back now and see the small windows of progress over time. Laying down, though sometimes seems like your only option, makes me feel worse almost all the time. If I stay moving, even if it's cleaning my house, I'm better off. Try and read success stories more than sxs ones too. It will give you some peace of mind. ✌🏼

Ever the inspiration Wheels...  I remember your early days, the pain, suffering and confusion... Then you made it to starting work... And now no looking back...

It isnt easy, and you have dug deep... well done, and thanks for offering your continued support and encouragment...

Tnt, I too am making progress, but healing in ways that dont show on my sig so much...

My brain was hit hard by meds prior to benzos, so fatigue is bad for me...  -I rest a lot, watch some tv shows or half a movie at a time (or less) and try to tick a couple of chores off my list through the day... I often come on bb when i need to lay down and let muscles, mainly stomach, relax...

Yes im lucky that i dont HAVE to do much...

But it also workes against me, as I have no Enforced structure, and motivation is my biggest enemy...

Try to find the things you enjoy the most,

The things you want to do,

And the things you have to do... -and combine them...

Adjust as you go, to suit...
