Made a cut

[OK...]

Well, made a cut from 8 to 7 tonight. Scared I'm going to die and have a seizure basically... that and be in severe withdrawals forever. Is 10% going to do that to me?

My goodness.......you were directly switched from 3mgs of Ativan to 8mgs of Valium in March?

That's hardly to equivalent of 3mgs of A. How are you doing at this stage? I'm going to guess NOT WELL

If your seizure free so far at this point, chances are pretty unlikely you'll suffer one.

I was great actually.. only affected me for a few days and I felt better than I have in years

You could easily taper 1 mg of Valium a week and still not be at risk for a seizure, honestly from one person who has had that be a huge concern for a while, don't worry you are very very unlikely to have one unless you were originally taking this for epilepsy, which I don't think you were. For some people the sinner they get off the better they feel, others hold longer because they need to be more functional and keep up having a family and kids and going to work everyday, you can do this, you have come so far already, it's a great sign that you were able to go from 3 mg of Klonopin down to 8 mg of Valium and feel so good! Great sign your body doesn't need this poison

Nope, none of the above.  A 10% cut can cause some WDs, but f it happens, it will be short-lived.

Thanks everyone. I have two months to stabilize on 7, so I hope that's a good amount of time. Some people are nice and others freak out and start saying I should cut more than a shiver of a pill and I just don't have that option. It was either go to 6 or go to 7 and I opted for 7 after begging to not make me drop that much.

Honestly try to stay away from negative people, most on this site are helpful and kind but a lot of people kind of get into a pattern of just constant negativity and complaining and it isn't helpful and makes people who might have a not so traumatic taper very fearful. You might be better private messaging people, it's what worked best for me. You can do so this, a lot of people say things like "well I did this and it happened so don't do it" but taking supplements is what got me stable after a rough rough taper period. So we are all different and we can all heal, and this is coming from somebody who drank a lot of alcohol during the first part of my taper. Not like I recommend it at all just believe and know you will be ok

Thank you, it wasn't on here but a fb group. Everyone here has always been nice and helpful. I think it's time to delete the group because is doing me more harm than good

Ok, so someone just told me a drop from 8 v to 7 v is actually a 12.5% drop... this is going to kill me isn't it... I'm so scared. I had no other option

Though  :'(

You'll be ok. You will survive this. You may feel that classic benzo rollercoaster ride after a cut for a while, but then you'll stabilize again, and will feel much better. I highly doubt you'll have seizures. These types of fears tend to get worse as the dose gets lower, but the likelihood of it happening gets so much lower as you keep tapering down. Your risk was actually much higher when you were on 3mg of Ativan. Now, you're on a much lower dose and are actually safer. What you are feeling is a drop from 3mg Ativan to 7mg valium. It will not cause seizures, but it is enough to create a lot of health anxiety, for sure. Best of luck to you :)

The ex-film producer Barbara Gordon had a seizure, but she made it up to 30mg of valium after 9 years on it  and she quit cold turkey. No taper at all. She still recovered nicely, although it took her a while. Matt Samet went up to 90mg of valium a day and quit cold turkey and didn't have a seizure. He totally could have, but he was lucky....

For what it's worth my psychiatrist said that it's around 3mg atvian (or 30mg valium, or 1.5mg Klonopin), when that fear starts to be legitimate.

No problem. When you get a fearful/angry comment or message, it could be that the person who responded may be going through an uptick in symptoms. Maybe they are close to their next dose, and getting very anxious. Maybe they had a squabble with their significant other. Maybe they live across the world, and they do not know the prescribing practices where you live. It could be millions of reasons. Some people are into tough love approach, and that doesn't work for everyone. Some may remember their own experiences and get triggered. There are as many reasons as there are people. This is very obvious when we are healthy and thriving, but it's easily forgotten when we suffer.

To me, it sounds like you are doing the best you can. Keep up the good work :)
