Hallucinations return 10 months out

I experienced horrendous hallucinations in bed at night months 2-6 until they dissapated and dissappeared. Just two weeks ago i started feeling surprisingly well and was hoping i was on the down swing. The past few days ive been in a wave that has most of my earlier symptoms returning but more disturbingly the bedtime hallucinations have returned. They dont frighten me near as much as the earlier ones did and my terror level has lowered considerably. I havent heard of many people having hallucinations much less have them return after months of being gone. I know this to shall soon pass-its just so very discouraging-especially since i believed i was on the down swing vs. being in full blown withdrawal again. I dont suffer schitzophrenia or any other mental health issues- sans anxiety- when im "myself" ie this is all witdrawal driven which im sure is due to my high dose half ass taper approach. Im curious if anybody else actually experienced hallucinations and if so did they return? If anybody reads this-thanks for your time.

I'm not sure what they are, but when I'm trying to fall asleep, my mind creates some wacky images that I don't know what the hell they are, and it used to really spook me out. I just open my eyes and close them and it resets the images.

I don't know if you'd call it hallucinations since my eyes are closed. When I'm feeling well in a window they are not there, so I know it's WD related.

It sure is a confusing symptom...

I was getting hallucination hallucinations ie i was seeing mostly evil images that werent actually there with my eyes open. But only at night during my half ass sleep cycle. Not hypnogogic. I think everyone probably sees horrid imagery when they close their eyes as i did as well. But again these were actual wide awake eyes open hallucinatuons that i had from like months 2-5 or 6. One example is i was looking up at my cieling wide awake in bed about 3am and suddenly a 3foot long mamalian rat like creature with razor sharp fangs jumped out of the ceiling right towards my face and vanished when it was inches away. I have a fan on at night to "sleep" and it would lightly move a floor to cieling curtain which then turned into an 8 foot alien being walking toward me. My terror/fear level was already thru the roof at that time so these added hallucinations made life even more terrifying. The imagery stopped for a few months but then last week it started again. This time it was like quick blips-like a shift in perception that quickly led to hallucinations. This time one of the images was a severed babys arm but after i opened my eyes from trying to get to sleep but couldnt. I havent read of anyone else actually hallucinating except imagery with eyes closed. I came off very high doses of ativan and Kpin rather quickly (regret!) so i believe that to be the contributing factor for the intensity of my wd. At a bit over ten months now all my symtoms remain sans the abject terror and hallucinations so it was a bitch when i thought they had returned. Thank God it was only for a couple nights and hopefully they dont return. Thanks for replying

I have had hallucinations on and off during wd, when I wake up early morning 2-3 Am.

shadows, or things in the corner of my room, or something coming at me very fast and then disappearing as it almost goes through my body. Scares the hell out of me.

It was really bad when it was accompanied by a jolt going through my body.

They are much less intense in the last few months as my body slowly has calmed down.

I totall relate with you about "jolts". This entire wd is sudden jolts and weird perception like a movie reel running that has scenes cut out of the negative. Your perception and vision quickly jolts to a different perception. Its very hard to explain. Jolt is good. I had 3 months with no hallucinations then they suddenly came back for two nights. Hope they dont for you-they surely are frightening.

You say you are hallucinating when you lay down.  Are your eyes opened or closed?  I used to get hypnagogic hallucinations when I was sleep deprived for years, whenever I shut my eyes to try to sleep.  These are different from normal hallucinations.

Thank you very much for this!  I never knew what it was.

You are incredibly strong to deal with those images Windwalker. I hope they let up soon
