I am 52 and want to remove Benzos from my life. I'm sick of feeling dependent on them. I've been on Xanax for 11 years. I have GAD and was prescribed them for that reason. 3 years ago my benzo use increased when my mom and mother in law died 9 mos. apart. I have a prescription for 1 mg 2x a day and have never exceeded my dose, and there have been times when I took only .50 and was fine. However, I have taken my husband's Ativan, not to add to my dose, but to see if they worked differently. They just make me weepy. I'm sick of these things. I've been a moderate drinker over the years too, and due to other health issues I'm down to the occasional glass of wine. I just want to live without any of this crap. The anxiety, however, is real and debilitating without the benzos.

That's the right decision for you, Kathleen.  I am sure when you get off these benzos you'll feel like a new woman!
