5 years of Klon 4.5 mg daily for sleep / last 5 years trying to recover

Hello all.

Like many many others I am sure, I went to Psych Doc for help with insomnia, anxiety and depression.  Was put on 4.5 mg Klon daily for about 5 years with 60 mg Celexa.  Really worked well as I was so over medicated I could navigate almost any issues.  Then was told to reduce K at my own pace (his words) when I was doing great.  Like a moron I took less next day, felt nothing, less next day still felt ok, then stopped then soon lost my sleep, my job, my mind and ended up in horrible spiral.

I came to this group now as I am going though a tough time again as I lost my job then had to quit a new job after just two weeks due to insomnia.

I have switched over to valium and tapered down to about 2 - 3 mg per day (valium) currently but my sleep is terrible with the financial burdens due to lack of employment.  The biggest question I am weighing currently is which is worse, the effects of constant insomnia and anxiety or going up a bit to 5 mg or even 10 mg valium to be able to function during this turbulent period.

Hopefully there are others in community that can provide some good feedback.

Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am glad you found us today. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. A gradual taper really is the best way to try to minimize symptoms. i don't know if up dosing will bring you the relief you are looking for.
