Hello

I am over 3.5 years off all ADs and benzos and was doing very well. Two weeks ago I got this really nasty flu virus. It was pretty bad - high temperatures, chills, aches, pains etc. Now temperature and sore throat are gone but enormous anxiety is back. I have the same symptoms as I had in withdrawals in the acute - horrible morning anxiety, dizziness, unbalanced feeling, palpitations, sweating, numb limbs etc.

Can anyone tell me please how long it is likely to last? I am really panicking. Am I sent back into withdrawals again? I just can't bear the thought of it  :'(  :'(

Thank you so much

wow this is crazy. I know I am 7 months off and had the flu  and have increased cortisol surges at night and anxiety. but you are over 3 years off. looks like your CNS is still  in healing. but I read of those in withdrawal having increased sx's after the flu.

I was told it takes 2 weeks to return to normal or baseline.

Wow, I am so grateful I found this. I am just getting over a flu-like virus and a number of my w/d symptoms have returned full force- dizziness, head pressure, adrenaline surges esp. at night, tinnitus, and worsened insomnia. I am completely sidelined and have been out of work for over a week. I don't feel as panicked knowing the flu can rev up old symptoms and they should subside.

That's great Hope328, that you're thinking rationally and keeping calm about it.

But it's so hard sometimes not to panic  :o
