I am here for withdrawal support and to help others if i can.  I have been on a benzo for 13 years. Two years ago I was ct after a suicide attempt. I had no idea at the time it was linked to the benzo and that I had reached tolerance.  After a trip to the ER and having a full blown psychotic reaction.  I was reinstated by my psychiatrist. I am on Xanax 0.5 twice daily at the moment. I'm a middle aged mom of two daughter's who lost her career, her house, custody of my girls and most of my dignity.  I live with my parents now.

We are happy you joined us,  I am sorry for what you have gone through.  It’s a sad fact that many of us arrive here having lost jobs, homes, relationships.  You will recover from this, it will get better.

 

Tapering slow can help to minimize withdrawal effects.  It is generally recommended to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days. This is a guideline and it is ok to adjust this schedule for your own comfort. 

 

We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process.  They will be willing to share their experience with you.  Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond

 

Are you familiar with the  Ashton Manual , it is an excellent resource for information about these medications and gives a lot of information about withdrawal/tapering.
