I was on cyclical estradiol patch and micronised progesterone tablets, and as I am addicted to valium, on the days I wasn't taking the progesterone, I was going mental with anxiety and self harm.

The doctor said he did not know any relationship between progesterone and GABA, so I cancelled 3 ultrasounds out of fear, until I come off the valium.

Anwyay, today, I have started bleeding randomly again, so I have to go back to the doctors on Monday to go for another ultrasound.

What will happen if they put me back on cyclical progesterone and daily oestrogen, or synthetic progesterone cyclically while still tapering, will it be a nightmare?

I cannot get prog cream as i am in the UK and it is illegal and too expensive to import.

Thanks

Progesterone is known to make people sleepy, tired, and/or calm.  It's possible that the progesterone was covering up the valium taper symptoms and when you don't take them you see them more.  ALSO, I've heard going off of progesterone also causes similar symptoms.  I don't know of any doctor who will vouch for this, but my acupuncturist says women who go on hormones for menopause, and then go off them, have symptoms of menopause 4X stronger when they finally go off of their hormones.

Why are you taking the hormones?  Birth control or other issue?  It's probably best to stay off of the hormones if you can.

I'm taking the hormones for perimenopause.

Okay, so going on the hormones is supposed to make you feel better?  Progesterone can definitely calm you down and estrogen can make you anxious.  If you do take it, you'll have to go off the hormones at some point too, and it's allegedly worse than just letting nature run its course.  Although, you are already doing withdrawal, so maybe you don't want to go off both at the same time.

I've heard it can take up to 2 or 3 cycles to adjust after hormone use.
