RESPONSE NEEDED: anyone breathless when talking on phone

When I'm talking on the phone I keep running out of air and have to constantly take a deep breath to get more air? Anybody else have problems catching their breath while talking on the phone?

Yes and I'm breathless OFF the phone too.

Good morning Injuredone. I don't know about talking on the phone, but I get winded just walking to the bathroom. I only use my phone for texting and occasional looks at websites. I'm way to antisocial to talk on the phone right now.

I get so frustrated when people say that exercise helps because at the moment I have zero stamina. Walking to the mailbox is a chore I have to plan for. Taking out the trash is torture. I manage to do things, but need plenty of rest stops.

The gist of this is breathlessness is a typical symptom. Try not to let it scare you. Everyone tells me, that like other symptoms, it will get better.

This happened to me a lot early in withdrawal, no it's not so much.

This happened to me all the time at the beginning of withdrawal. It continued through about 9-10 months. I had such social anxiety talking to people in person and on the phone. Texting was my go to. It will pass. You are completely normal.  :smitten:

YES - when I talk to someone, when I climb the stairs, heck - sometimes when I just try and brush my teeth. It's my scariest symptom! It makes me think something is wrong with my lungs. (all tests show no damage.)

I'm very scared and fearful that I will never recover. I've also noticed that it will happen to me in the car when I'm trying to sing to the radio. I just don't have any air. I do remember in the past, that one thing I noticed as I got lower on the taper was that I could once again sing loudly (and not be breathless) in the car.

So yes - very much so. Serious breathlessness and it's quite alarming. It helps to read that I am not alone in this awful, awful symptom.

Note: this came on really badly for me at 5-6 weeks after jumping from .25 mg of Klonopin (way too high to jump from, I now KNOW) - in fact, this is the one symptom (of the hundreds) that scared me so badly, I reinstated. (and I sure wish I hadn't, because here i am having to taper again and now I STILL have that horrible symptom!) Ugh. So - a cautionary tale if it ever makes you consider reinstating. Just don't do it!
