Hello everyone I have a question. I've been taking klonopin no more than 0.5mg, average 0.25mg for about a year and I tapered down to 0.03mg by dry cutting 0.0625mg at a time and holding for 2-4 weeks sometimes a month of two before continuing reducing my dose. For example my taper schedule was something like

0.5mg hold 2 weeks

0.44 2 hold weeks

0.37 hold for 3 weeks

0.31 hold 2 weeks

0.25 hold for a month

.. so on

and I jumped at my final dose of 0.03mg on 03/03/2017.

It's been 19 days and I still feel some discomfort. The withdrawal symptoms that I've had are mostly anxiety and depression. I have some lack of energy and feel pretty unbalance. Sometimes as though the floor seems inclined and I have to grab ahold of something in order to not fall. I get head pressure and headaches, a couple days ago I had a fever. So everything is mostly just anxiety, depression, vertigo. My depersonalization has gotten a tiny bit better, I've also noticed that after sex once I orgasm I feel a trillion times worse and I'm not sure if that's a normal part of withdrawal. However I'm just curious as to how long my withdrawals will probably last? I'm on the 19th day without klonopin, in two more days it'll be 3 weeks already. If I was on a typically lower dose and on just ~ 1 year of klonopin should my withdrawals start to fade in lets say, next week or so? thanks

Hi,

Your symptoms are normal for being 19 days off, which is part of the acute withdrawal period.  It sounds like one or two symptoms have gotten better for you, which is a sign of future healing.  Unfortunately, no one can tell you how long this will take, there's no timetable for this.  Time itself is the healer, and the amount of time is different for each of us.

Hi megan  :),

The thing is that sometimes I start to think that I will never heal and it's a very scary thought but I have noticed that I've been less paranoid than I used to be.. I'm also sleeping pretty good. I do have some really intense nightmares but I'm able to average in around 6 hours of sleep. Is it a normal part of withdrawals to be waking up every 2-3 hours? And those thoughts of "I might always feel this way" are completely illogical right?

Yes, insomnia and vivid dreams are normal, as is believing "I'll never heal."  Both mental and physical symptoms abound.  But they're temporary and will go away in time.

Once you get past the acute phase, which on average lasts 4 to 6 weeks, you should feel some noticeable relief. It sound like you are starting to feel some already.  :smitten:

By saying "i still feel some discomfort" is a very encouraging sign because at 19 days i felt like a raging maniacal lunatic having audio and evil visual hallucinations that made me feel like i was losing my mind that i in no way would describe as "some discomfort" It seems you may have avoided the brunt that some of us experience so good for you and hang tough!

^^^ Yes, if you're only "feeling some discomfort" after 19 days, you are doing really well! I was pretty much where the above poster was, at 3 weeks out. And continued into crazytown another 3 weeks before I reinstated. I was probably JUST at the turning point, but I jumped from .25, which I will NEVER do again. I think you're doing great!

At 19 days, I was just starting this difficult journey.

Im 6 months out and still battling with some strong side effects, altought a lot have gotten way better.

You were on a really low dose and did a really long taper so imo i believe you may experience smooth sailing given what 19 days has brought your way. Its difficult to put a timeframe on it though. You may progressively feel better until healed or you may have simply had an easy time thus far. Benzo wd is a beast. Imo if no symptoms are ramped up within a couple weeks then you will progressively heal vs. get worse then you are now. Try not to think about it and stay as positive as possible.

So practically what I should be experiencing now should be the worse it's ever gonna be as it will only be better as time goes on from now on?

Everybody is different but I would say many more weeks or months.  It is horrible but there is no other choice.  I had expectations of something so much different and this has been the hardest thing I have ever done.  Of course I was on clonazepam the very worst benzo for over 8 years-----it has almost killed me but I am still here.  Hang in there

Thats really difficult to say forcium. The good thing you habe going for you is that you say its been relatively easy thus far whereas for most people the first 19 days arent anywhere near relatively easy. The next two weeks could possibly be huge indicators but it usually isnt a linear process. But its also not relatively easy so hopefully your wd will continue on the easy route but no one can say for sure. Only you will know. Good luck!!
