Why is jumping so much different from tapering?

From what I've read, for most people it takes a few weeks at most after a cut (even a sizable one) to begin to feel 'better'. Yet after jumping off completely, for the same people, it can take months for any marked improvemen to occur.

Why is this? Does going from a tiny amount of benzo to nothing really differ so much from making a large cut? I understand that having no benzo in you is a large shock to your brain and body, but why does it seem like it's so much larger of a shock, for so much longer, than tapering is? Is it possible that it's largely mental because of the fright of having zero benzo in your system? Is there any reasoning behind this, scientific or otherwise?

Kind of scared because I'm trying to jump at the moment. Really hoping it can be the same as any other cut I've made. Thanks for any replies.

Just to give ya hope... I jumped a few weeks ago, and every single day that goes by, I feel better and better.

I think it's just how each persons body and brain responds. Just take it easy, and don't stress about it to much. It could very well be a non event.

skittles45: I hope you're right. Congrats on being off and feeling well. :)

snowflake1822: Right? I feel like if I understood it better I could worry less... though maybe it'd end up having the opposite result. lol

I haven't jumped yet but have been tapering pretty fast with mild/moderate (tolerable) symptoms.  I may just be lucky or it may be my diet which is pretty strict - no carbs/sugar at all besides veggies and a very tiny amount of fruit in a greens protein shake in the morning.  So everyone is different. I've found the anxiety I have is mostly related to what I've read and what "might" happen.

And intense exercise 5-6x/week.

Ditto that. I think it made my K taper easy and not that I'm back to it, my Valium taper has gotten a lot better. I never thought about it; and just went about my business. I try not to overthink things as it just makes it worse.
