I was introduced to this website by my current psychiatrist, actually.  I have been on clonzaepam daily (a scheduled dose) for 3.5 years now.  I am currently tapering off and am on 1/4 of my original dose after three months.

 

I'm just looking for general support from other people that are in the process or have already come off completely of a benzodiazepine.  It's harder than I thought

Well done to you on starting your taper, withdrawal isn’t easy but you will get through it.  We are tougher than we think we are!  I am so pleased your psychiatrist directed you to us, joining a forum and being amongst people who could relate helped me enormously.

 

Tapering slow can help to minimize withdrawal effects.  It is generally recommended to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days.  This is a guideline and it is ok to adjust this schedule for your own comfort.

 

We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process.  They will be willing to share their experience with you.  Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond

 

Are you familiar with the  Ashton Manual , it is an excellent resource for information about these medications and gives a lot of information about withdrawal/tapering.
