Horrific headaches

Hi everyone. I have been tapering Ativan. I have been developing these horrific headaches almost on a daily basis. I also have tinnitus and it gets louder. Sometimes with the headaches it feels like a band around my head and I lose control of my eye lids. Could this just be a symptom of withdrawal/tapering? Or should I be more concerned, such as something major is wrong. I have had health anxiety before. I don't have an appointment with my new doctor until March 30...since my current doctor is retiring. Should these headaches be of any concern? I am not sure what a benzoyl headache feels like...worrying the worst!!!

Hi pumpkin!  My head hurts daily. It's a weird headache. My brain feels numb or stale. I feel like there is a tight band around my brain squeezing it. Usually my forehead feels heavy and I feel off balance and floaty. The heaviness travels sometimes to the back of my head and sometimes on the sides above my ears. Sometimes it's all of the above all at the same time. When I feel the pressure in my head I also feel a lot of pressure in the bridge of my nose and upper teeth. If it gets bad I will take some Tylenol once a day. I'm not sure but I think it helps. I don't know if this is the "benzo headache " but this is what I have on a daily basis. Lately I've been experimenting with having a cup of regular coffee in the morning and it seems to help. Hope your headache gets better.

I'm no doctor so I can't say whether your headaches are from benzos or not. But I do get headaches that no meds will take away. One Tylenol and one aspirin taken together will sometimes take the edge off, but only for about two hours, then the headache is back again.

I do find that ice on my head and heat on the back of my neck helps a lot. That is if you are lucky enough to be able to stay at home and not have to go to work. Did I say lucky? That's a laugh. None of us are lucky to be in this condition.

Good luck to you! I hope you find relief, but imo this is probably the benzo withdrawal headaches I often read about and certainky to experience. But checking it out with your doctor will put your mind at ease.
