Could only a few doses of ativan over a 3 month time span cause withdrawal

Ive had the same 0.5mg prescription since january 2017. I have only used 5 or 6. I just use them very sparingly when I am anxious from being sleep deprived. I used a couple times in january and I had 2 sinus surgeries in a month and a half so i used one before and a couple after. Thats it.

How long does short term use withdrawal last if there is any in my case? I feel like I have cognitive impairment today and yesterday. I could just feel down because my body is healing from surgery last monday and Im still dealing with sinus pressure. Just wondering if this is just a side effect or withdrawal will even effect me. I took my last dose Friday night. Im not going to take them again because I hate the groggy feeling of them the next day and been getting really bad dry mouth. I know my sinuses cause that but the ativan makes it worse when i take them. It does help my anxiety  out and helped me to sleep during those uses but I dont want to rely on them and I feel hungover the next day. I just feel really slow right now and spaced out. Just dont know if this is just exacerbated due to sinuses healing and blood in my nose from sinus surgery. But it does still feel like Im still drugged from Friday night. So Im confused. I understand that effects have been known to last up to 72 hours so I could still be feeling the lingering effects of that. Just dont know.

Given your history (5-6 doses since January), you have no dependency.

If you want to stop (probably a good idea) just stop.

Agree with builder, get out while you still can!

There are lots of effective ways to deal with anxiety without meds- exercise, good food, meditation, yoga, breathing techniques, EFT. I wish I had invested more in those than taking benzos since that is now what I have as coping tools for withdrawal. The symptoms of withdrawal are MUCH worse than what put me on the benzos in the first place (for me).

Thanks everyone. They did stop racing thoughts due to sleep deprivation but I think I will sleep when I sleep and just deal with it rather than a long road of withdrawal if I were to continue using and develop a dependency. No more benzos. Still havent taken one since Friday. Brain sluggishness a little better now.
