Hi, glad I found you

Last week I completed an opiate withdrawal from Norco and have crossed over to the long-acting opiate Subutex (12mg/day) for pain management.

I would normally wait after something as major as that before undertaking another drug withdrawal. But anxiety remained very high and I felt I was in a bad rebound anxiety cycle with the Serax I was on, (10mg 4x/day).

I did a quick drop to just my bedtime dose of 10mg/day Serax. This is my 3rd day at that level. I'm still having a great deal of anxiety, up and down all day. Sleep has been solid which is great.

My doc and I agree it would be better to use Serax as needed than on a schedule, and obviously less is more. But I don't feel stable now. I'm unclear on what to do next. Any help appreciated.

Hi fashoom  Welcome to Benzobuddies

We are glad you found us, well done on your opiate withdrawal.  How long have you been on Serax (oxazepam). Benzodiazepines should only be used short term 2/3 weeks.  The best way to minimize withdrawal symptoms is a slow and careful taper.  It is generally recommended to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days.

We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process.  They will be willing to share their experience with you.  Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond

Are you familiar with the  Ashton Manual , it is an excellent resource for information about these medications and gives a lot of information about withdrawal/tapering.

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to”Create a signature”

Welcome aboard
