Short term Ativan use very sparingly

Wondering if only a few doses of Ativan spread apart a 3 month time span can cause withdrawals. Only have taken 6 or so since January 17 2017 to March 18. 0.5mg not in a row but spread out. Can just the side effects cause cognitive functioning impairment not withdrawal but side effects. Im done taking it. Still have a lot of prescription left. Just dont want to rely on it. It was prescribed for anxiety due to sleep deprivation that caused obsessive thoughts. Also had two sinus surgeries within the last month and a half and it helped with my anxiety with that but I still used sparingly as stated.

You have made a good decision to come off these drugs. While stopping them may cause some temporary effects, I don’t think 6 doses is enough to develop a dependency.  I would think that whatever withdrawal symptoms you may feel, they should ease off pretty rapidly.

 

For people taking benzos regularly for a few months or more, the rule of thumb is to reduce by between 5-10% every 10-14 days.
