I'm a bit scattered with my dosing, but things we going pretty decent, my sleep was coming back and I was starting to exercise. Then I had a major panic attack, brought on by no sleep, that made me jump back on the Ativan train for about a month. I started a rapid taper, and now I've been off for about a month. This past week I've been getting headaches, minor body aches, ribs, lower back and teeth, jaw pain. The headaches mostly went away and now it's minor jaw/teeth pain that comes and goes. Why does the sleep come back for weeks and than bam, back to nothing. Will this ever end?

Once the sleep deprivation starts I crash hard. I can't take it anymore, I have to take something to sleep to be able to function. Right now Mirtazapine is working.

As someone who cold turkeyed and reinstated multiple times, please stop taking benzos when you panic. Your nervous system needs a long period free of this poison to heal.

Find an alternative for sleep and panic. I had some success with seroquel early on, then an antihistamine, and eventually melatonin for sleep. Ummmm, for panic, a seroquel also worked early on in my taper, but not in acute. Like Junior said, perhaps Mirtazapine could work?

The idea is to steer clear of benzos even when you think you can't handle it anymore. We all get there. It's what we do in that moment that counts. Taking an alternative to help calm you down can be all you need to get a night's sleep, regroup, and continue the fight. Good luck
