Condition after Augmentin antibiotic

Hello buddies,

I decided to inform you about my condition after antibiotics for bacterial respiratory infection.

Some of you have already known that I took Axef 3 weeks ago because I had virus infection, which became bacterial. Unfortunately the Axef did not help (maybe I am resistant to this antibiotic) and after numerous blood tests, the doctors considered that I have to take Augmentin, because the bacterial infection was not healed. So I took Augmentin for 7 days. My GP after blood test again decided to stop it because I was cured from any infections. I stopped the Augmentin last Sunday. I couldn't sleep 2 nights. In Tuesday I woke up at 6 A.M. from terrible cortisol wave. I fell asleep again but when I woke up (near 11 A.M.) I was veeeeeery dizzy with tinnitus. Since then, I have cortisol waves every morning, I am very dizzy and have a terrible tinnitus. My head is going to explode. It is like a low blood pressure, but the blood pressure is normal. I do not take any medications now except the probiotic, which probiotic (Omnibiotic) I have to take it 7 more days.

You know that I was very well in the past few months considering myself as 90% healed from benzo (you can see my posts) but this situation set me back. I hope it will pass soon. I will keep you updated with my condition after taking antibiotics. Hope those of you who are taking antibiotics now, not to have any set backs!

Kisses,

Rositsa

I was considering to start taking Augmentin.  I was on  Ampicillin for 8 days and according to my dr it didn't kill my sinus infection. I am already expecting anxiety, morning cortisol, nausea, food aversion and ear pressure and terrified to take more antibiotics.  I pray that this is a sort set back.

Did you give a sample from your nose to test what is the exact bacteria and to prepare antibiogram to determine the exact antibiotic?

No, I was not offered to take a nose culture or a blood test.  I took Ampicillin for 8 days and was told the dose was too low. And possibly have a sinus infection because I loose my voice during the day.  I feel congested and mucous in the back of my troat.  My ears congested too , I hope it just a side affect be sure I had the same issue with my ears during withdrawal

I think you have to test blood and culture. Antibiotics does not help for virus infection but for bacterial. This you can see in your blood test and which antibiotic to take - from the antibiogram of the culture. You should consider it with your doctor.

I took this stuff for about 7-8 days around Thanksgiving, and I had a bad experience as well.  I thought I had a sinus infection, so I took this and basically ruined my Thanksgiving break.  I had serious "chemical anxiety" come back again and had a very hard time for several days.

Fortunately, it only lasted a few days after I stopped taking the augmentin and those temporary side effects lifted.

Well, the symptoms were 7 days, 3 of them very strong. Now everything is ok

Glad to hear you're feeling better.  I've been on and off of Augmentin a couple of times since November, and while I haven't had any bad side effects from it, it has interfered significantly with my taper.  It actually made me pretty sleepy at times when I took it.

I was taking mine for a UTI and Prostatitis, and it has worked to rid me of the worst of my symptoms.  I was originally prescribed a floroquinilone, which I rejected for obvious reasons.

Rosi,

I am glad that you are doing much better.  I decided  not to take Augmentin as I don't think I have a sinus infection and I am doing better.  However after taking Ampicillin almost two weeks ago i still have bad morning anxiety and cortisol upon waking up.  I feel restless and somewhat anxious  during the day. On and off ear pressure, nausea and food aversion.  I have a jaw pain for the last two days as I can not relax my jaw.  But all my symptoms seams to disappear in the late evening.  I pray for some relief  and finally healing again.  :(

Hi Vikas,

I just read that the xilometazoline for nose have the same effects if it is used more than 5 days. I used it more that 15 days and I am so dizzy, have cortisol waves and vision problems. It is all because of the xilometazoline. I am so scared now. If you used sprays with xilometazoline, stop it. The side effects are dangerous and same as benzo symptoms. :(

Wow, I used that nose spray during my taper in 2015.

This time I used many natural remedies and found out that olive leaf and  oregano oil extracts can cause anxiety.  I also used Musinex for couple of days and stopped because it made my chest congestion worse.  As of now I am using Marshmallow root and Colloidal Silver.  I can not find anything about Colloidal Silver causing anxiety but planing to  stop for few of days to see if it will make any difference. My jaw s really bothering me tonight.  >:(  I thinks its time for us to start feeling better. I simply refuse to believe that this set-back will last long. :smitten:

Rosita,

I'm so sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with the Augmentin. I actually took it for pneumonia while in W/D and was fine with it. Guess it shows how different all of our systems are.

Hang in there!

Rositsa - how are you feeling now? I may have to take Augmentin and I'm very nervous.  :-\

I am very bad. But it is not from the Augmentin. It is from the xylometazoline that I used more that the prescribed days. It affect on the CNS and set me back - very loud tinnitus, insomnia, anxiety, headache and dizziness. I had only few cortisol waves from the augmentin.

I am so sorry to hear that you are still not doing well.  I myself still have mild anxiety and general feeling of not feeling well.  Now I am clenching my teeth at night, which gives me headache and jaw discomfort during the day.  Hope we get better soon  :smitten:
