Two days OFF after 4 year taper

:D :D

Well, after 4 years of tapering I've come off of 1.5mg of klonopin after 19 years of use--I'm only 33 but I was prescribed the drug as a kid.    You're probably thinking, "why the fu** did it take you 4 years?"  That's complicated.  I've been deathly sick and disabled through this process, had many road bumps, even had my compounding pharmacist double my dosage without my knowing--consequently setting me back.

I'm still in the healing phase, yet i'm hopeful once again.  I say hopeful once again, as there was a point in the taper that I was literally planning my eventual demise.  But, now i'm planning my future not my death.

I want my story to be seen as a motivation for the victims of a more vicious withdrawal--the type of withdrawal that keeps you confined to a bed.  The type of withdrawal that completely wrecks you, to the point where you can't even type of the keyboard--and you've been fuc**d  for years. Because that was me.

Please know that you can get through this, it might just take longer then most for whatever reason.  Like I said I'm still working on healing, and not back to work yet, but I'm getting there.  Even being able to type this post out is a huge milestone.  Yesterday I went out and celebrated by going out to eat and hanging out at a buddies house--another big milestone for me.

Not sure what else to say, so i'll just leave it at that.

How wonderful!  I'm so saddened to learn that they prescribe this for children, and to read of your suffering.  I know your story will inspire many, and wish you every happiness that life has to offer.  You deserve the best.

I just can't believe it's over.  It's a cool feeling knowing I no longer have to go the compounding pharmacist, or see the doctor, etc...

It's a new chapter I suppose.

Aww big hugs! It breaks my heart to know you were given this as a kid.  I am 33 years old also and I can't imagine having the perseverance to do a 4 year taper when all we want to do is live life like everyone else, but kudos to you.  Enjoy your freedom!

This is awesome.  I'd love to hear more about your story.  Why were you given it as a child?  How/Why did the compounding pharmacist double your dosage?  I would be so mad about that.  Congratulations on your rebirth!

I'll fill in more details of my story today.  There's alot to my story.
