I know this is more commonly associated with opiate withdrawls but I thought I'd cast out a line. As of today, I have had what I can only describe as a tension, cluster, migraine headache hybrid since I had to stop taking Klonopin for a day and switch to Valium but only for a day and it has been a week. I have thrown triptans, barbiturates, opiates, nsaids, and steroids at this thing and it shows no signs of letting up. At the risk of getting thrown in the psyche ward, I'm not going back to the er because they gave me a clean CT scan without contrast (which can only really see active bleeding) because they won't dig any deeper and want me to see a neurologist. Before I throw down 3 grand for an MRA I would like to know if anyone else has suffered in a similar fashion to me. The initial start of the headache was an intense burning throughout my scalp and the arteries on both my temples were popping out. I went to the er and got the triple threat (steroid shot, tordol, and regulan) and it let up just long enough for me to sleep four hours.  I haven't had any luck since even with hydrocodone or fiorircet. Getting concerned and could use some reassurance.

I've had headaches similar to what you say but I think it may not be letting up because  you've switched so many drugs around.  1mg K is equal to 20mg of V(give or take).  Even your plan to go to 1.5mg of K with 2.5mg of V is a drastic first cut.  You should go to 1.5k and 10mg V, wait two weeks and then slowly cut the V.  Maybe get stable on the 2mg of K for a few weeks and then do it right. Best of luck.

I have had the same severe headache that has made me wonder if I am blowing a head gasket as well. Each time I taper I have an excruciating headache until my body adjusts to the dose. (about 7-10 days) I know this seems silly but I have noticed if I drink A lot (2 liters) of water and take Tylenol tension headache OTC medicine - it helps a little. Also eating magnesium rich foods have helped. As well as walking outdoors when I can. It seems to relieve the tension part but not the external crushing sensation.

Best to you, I hope you feel better soon.

Been taking a magnesium supplement since I started taper. I've been questioning the dangers of taking a barbiturate for the headache since they both work on GABA but it's about the only thing that knocks it out long enough for me to sleep. It's just 50 mg of fiorcet but still it puts me about the quivalent of 2 mg of Klonopin when you toss it all together.

I went back to 2 mg Klonopin and low poof goes the headache. Guess we can add that to the list then :/
