In February I was prescribed Ativan 1mg. Was told to take 2 at night and 2 during the day as needed.  I never took that much. Anyhow, 2 weeks ago on a Friday I wasn't feeling very anxious and thought I would try to sleep without it. I did, I slept for 6 hours. The next day I decided not to take it either. The next day I started feeling dizzy, I did not think about the Ativan at first but then I realized that was the only thing that changed. I did some research and decided I didn't want to take it anymore. Two days later I was hit with horrible depression. I thought it might be the Ativan so I took 1/2 one and sure enough I felt better. That week I decided to just take small amounts to keep the depression away. The next Saturday I didn't take any and felt the horrible depression again. I took a little that day. That was 7 days ago today. I haven't taken any sense. I have depression, burning on my scalp, headache, and my legs are weak. Is this really from

The Ativan?  I feel like I took so little for such a short amount of time. If it is, does anyone know how long this will last?

Thank you

I was only on xanax for 5 weeks and when I stopped taking it I had much worse symptoms than what you are experiencing. I have been off of it for 8 weeks now, and feeling a lot better. I still have some annoying lingering symptoms though. Everyone is different when it comes to this stuff, but I learned you can become physically dependent in as little as one week. I'm no expert, but sounds like your symptoms are definitely ativan induced. There's no telling how long your symptoms will last, but based on what you have shared probably not too long. My depression started to lift several weeks ago, but still feel a little foggy at times, mostly in morning. You're going to be okay. Find a good support group in the meantime to help you get through the depression.

You didnt state how much ativan and for how long you took it. Was it 3 days or 3 weeks? Its easier to advise when you have specifics. Could you list the amount and length of time? Thank you and hang tough!
