I'm almost 8 month off of nightly ambien at high doses. It's been hell. For the past few months I seem to be slowly improving, but I am hit once a month with a horrible wave. It's like my hanger on symptoms (feeling a little drugged and dizzy 24/7, intermittent insomnia, racing heart, nervousness) are improving little by little in between waves. But, when I'm hit it's horrible in the same way over and over. It was sort of predictable for a month or two depending on my menstural cycle. The last couple of months it's been during my period then after it, so I think it plays a role but I'm not sure how since it fluctuates. I feel like I can't really heal because I'm constantly braced for the week when it all falls apart and I'm positive I'm going to die or be like this forever. For those of you who have healed, did this gradually become less severe, or did the waves stop happening one month? I just feel like I need a reprieve from them so bad! I think if I felt anywhere near normal in between I could cope better, but I don't. I feel like I'm drugged. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I think through this whole thing what helps the most is knowing others are having similar symptoms...were not alone.

Did you have any of this before the celexa or ambien? It seems it may be the celexa. Having a once a month "wave" and being fine the other 29 days doesnt seem like it would be related to any medication. Even with benzos you dont have a "wave" one day out of the month and then are cool the other 29. I was on ambien years ago and i remember when i stopped i had severe nervousness etc. constantly ie it wasnt once a week or once a month and then it simply went away completely. I say this to suggest you may have something else going on besides ambien wd. Just a thought. Hang tough girl!

You are not alone.  I also get tossed into monthy waves, which correlate with menstruation.  For a few months now, it gets brutal right after my period, then lightens up again, then repeat.  And I'm on a 22 day or so cycle, which stinks.  My sxs sound similar to you...kinda dizzy, out of it, anxious.

Thank you both. I guess I didn't explain very well, it doesn't in any way go a at for 29 days. It's constant but seems to get really bad for about a week each month. I know it's some interplay with hormones. No, I never had any of this before thyroid disease and withdrawals. It's very frustrating because every time I feel well enough to start making plans, wham I'm a wreck.

I am almost always worse for the week before and the week after. It seems to put some extra stress on my system that is already not doing good. I hope you feel better soon.
