Cold-Turkey Klonopin After 15 Year RX

Recommended Posts

Posted

Greetings! Was on Klonopin for almost 15 years and for emergency reasons went cold turkey off the Klonopin on 11/28/2016. During the 15-years of being on Klonopin I was always on the same amount of 1MG three times a day. The detox (cold turkey) was absolutely shocking as you all very well know. In that timeframe from 11/28/2016 to today's date, 03/17/2017, I have never reinstated or took anything in the benzo family as I figured if I was going to do this it was to never go down a benzo road again. I found BenzoBuddies online a few months ago while reading as much as I could about what I was going through because I had no idea of the severity of what benzos do as I thought it was a sleeping pill/tranquilizer (kinda like Unisom). Your website has saved me many times from having to go to the Emergency Room as I see that other posters have the same symptoms and there is nothing being in the ER or a doctor can do for a person who is in benzo withdrawal; you just have to ride the vicious wave out.

I will post more later when I am better focused and feeling better, but thank you for allowing me in to your wonderful and compassionate group.

Congratulations on being benzo-free, but so sorry that you're now in the thick of it with the residuals of a substantial cold turkey. Fortunately these symptoms do ease up over time, and you've definitely come to the right place to finish your recovery!

When you have a chance, we highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.
