I read so many stories about people recovering after a year.

Has anybody here had an earlier recovered?

Does it get better after weeks, or stay the same?

Some people do have relatively easy tapers and quick(er) recoveries. It is an extremely individualistic process. You could very well be one of the lucky ones, or one of the unlucky ones. It's worth noting that many of the people who have an easier time with this don't end up on sites like this, so don't be discouraged by what you read on here. Try to keep things in perspective and let your brain and body heal at their own pace. It will happen with time. :)

Thank you for your reply.

I guess people that feel fine dont bother to write here.

A shame since it would be nice to get a wider view.

Mike I think the best thing is to be optimistic and keep plugging along at your own pace. There are probably tens of thousands of people who have a relatively easy time coming off these drugs. Actually most people just go about their lives with little fanfare at all. Some of us aren't quite as lucky but still...don't let others dictate how you should feel (or not). You've done extremely well from a large dose of Valium so I'd say you're on your way to a terrific recovery. If time is needed then spare the time...worth it every step of the way. At least for me it's worth it. Even when times get really rough I just know it's been worth the effort. If you find yourself struggling then know it will pass in time. I agree though need to keep everything in perspective because we are all so very different. B

I see you have been trying to taper Remeron. I have managed to taper from 60mg

to 15mg. I have decided to stay on the final 15mg until i have recovered from Valium.

I guess I managed to taper since i am still on 20mg of Cipralex.

My main problem now are physical symptoms.

My feet and legs burn like crazy.

Fortunately i have no anxiety, but I am scared this will suddenly return although

I am now at zero Valium for more than two weeks.

Take care.

I was fully recovered by the time I took my last dose.

Wow, Builder, that's encouraging! Why do you think that is? Maybe bc you jumped at such a low dose?

My first time I was on 1mg ativan for about 7 months and I cold-turkey'd (DO NOT DO THIS). It took me about 6 months before I felt consistently normal. During those 6 months I would have awful weeks and good weeks.

I hope its comforting to know that it is possible to recover in less than a year, but please keep in mind that individual biology makes all the difference here. You're experience may be easier or harder, by a little or by a lot.

Actually, I had no sxs from 3mg on down.

Everyone should reach a point in their taper where the dose no longer has any real medical effect.  At that point, you have really lost your dependency.  I probably could have jumped at any point after I got below 3mg.
