I've been benzo free for almost 8 weeks. Was on for 5 weeks, then did rapid taper (5 days). I experienced surprisingly intense withdrawal symptoms for such a short time on. I feel a lot better (waves and windows have pretty much stopped), but I started having heart palpitations almost 2 weeks ago and they haven't gone away. They usually let up in the evening, and I am sleeping okay with the help of melatonin. It's just weird how the palpitations seem to have come from nowhere, and are not going away. Any advice would be helpful.

It is completely normal to have different withdrawal symptoms come and go throughout the healing process. During my taper I had a lot of heart palpitations, haven't really had any the last 2 months.

Thanks for your response. It's comforting to know that what I'm experiencing is "normal." I have gone through benzo withdrawal two times in the past (symptoms only lasted a month), but this occasion is different (not as intense, but longer lasting). This garbage is so unpredictable.

I still wouldn't take any chances when it comes to the heart. If you haven't had a check up in a while, perhaps you should make one?
