Prescribed Ativan And Klonipin short term 3 weeks rapid taper and reinstatement 9 days later to Valium only 2.5 not equivalent at all to what I was taking.  Have been on it for 3 weeks. Has not help severe withdrawals for 2 months. When does i.e. do? Think about slow taper off Valium since it's not helping or updosing to see if that helps. Scared. Don't know what to do. So many conflicting ideas.

Welcome to the forum!  We're glad to have you as a new member.

You'll find plenty of information and support here.  Our members have gone through all aspects of withdrawal, and you're likely to find  people who understand what you're going through and can tell you what has worked for them.  For those who are currently tapering, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days, and some taper even slower than that.  One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster than that.

Having some withdrawal symptoms is normal, especially near the end of a taper and for a month or so after discontinuing the medication.  The most common symptoms are anxiety and insomnia, but these and other symptoms are temporary and will go away in time.

Here are a few links you may find useful:

Withdrawal Support Board

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms in Chapter III, and there is also a section with withdrawal/taper schedules.

Welcome. I would agree with the recommended 5 to 10 percent reduction every two weeks. However, may be able to do a bit quicker since your use was short. They really are not meant to take for more than several weeks for a variety of reasons. Taken long term they usually end up being a poor solution for what they were originally prescribed for. If it was me I would begin to taper....but that is me.

I am having severe shaking, tremors, brain zaps, tingling all over body, head and ear pressure. My psychiatrist just prescribed me 5mg taken twice a day. Should I correct the incorrect calculations that another doctor did for the 2.5 Valium that hazing helped in 3 weeks? Or should I stay on 2.5. How can I start tapering feeling like this. Thank you so much everyone going through this. You are my heros!
