Hi,

Like you I m tapering ativan too. What was your original dose of ativan? I know you say the 1 mg pills and the way I understand you are down to 2 of those a day? Ativan does a lot to our bodies. I think that perhaps as I can see from your signature line that perhaps you are doing it on your own...it is always best to have a doctor's care t some degree when tapering a benzo such as ativan, just for safety. Please don't be too scared, it can be rough, but remember it isn't always. I m scared too, and have a lot of anxiety, but that is what benzobuddies is here for.  You will find a lot of support here in many ways, so please don't feel alone. I know that in real life, I have always been sort of a loner too, and perhaps now in hindsight if I would have not felt like shutting myself off from the world, including my husband and family I would not be battling so badly now. Now it is a lot harder on my little family.

I know that I have also lost interest in the things that I once enjoyed. It is hard when you are dealing with all of this, including the whole ativan taper thing. I have been trying to force myself to do things that i once enjoyed. Its not easy at all, but I have to force myself to. The Ashton manual says to not let tapering off a benzo ovetake our whole life and I am very guilty of doing that. As you taper or go off in the manner you choose (I would guess you will continue to taper) try to listen to your body. It knows when you are pushing too hard. But most of all, don't feel alone. We are here, and someone is always listening, even if they don't answer immediately. Just know this and take comfort in this.

If you are tapering, it is recommended to go 5-10% cut of your dose every 7-14days. Ativan is very short acting and that in itself can cause alot of dfficulty.

Oh and it can be really hard for spouses or significant others to understand if they have never been down this road themselves. I know its hard right now, but it is alot for them to take in, especially if we are symptomatic. They are left confused. I know my husband is after 8 months of this ride. I long for my old life back, and I must admit I fear the future. But I keep trying to read the success stories from others that have come off alot higher doses than mine, and been on them alot longer, though ativan seems to be in the minority because a lot of people crossover to valium, but there are some out there that have. Remember, we here at benzo buddies are just representative of a section of people that have are coming off benzos. Some have no difficulties at all. we try to stay positive, please don't read alot of the horror storeis. If you are like me it only works you up until you can't function sometimes.
