I can only doze off for an hour before waking up too hot! Tonight I woke up hot and feeling my heart rate faster than normal. It's been really bad since I replaced my mattress several weeks ago. This is actually my third mattress in the past month. First mattress too soft and VERY hot memory foam Second mattress too hard and too hot if I try to use a mattress topper. The latest mattress is latex foam which is supposed to not make you hot. But I still woke up anyway, this is my first night on it. The mattress itself is comfortable so now I'm wondering if the heat problem is just me. I can fall asleep on an old mattress in my spare room, but it's still not a refreshing sleep. It takes me an hour to fall asleep and I may still wake up once or twice but I get about six hours. Whenever I attempt it with any new mattress I doze for an hour then wake up hot and wide awake. So frustrated. Is the benzo wd just making my system upset about the change? I've never had trouble falling asleep in hotels or someone else's house before so I don't know why a mattress change in mynown room would mess me up. :-\

The common recurring complaint in Benzo Discontinuation is not only the worsening of insomnia, but those hot sweating palpitating surges we get, especially at night....I thought I was going to have to exist like that for the rest of my life....I even bought a room (not window) air conditioner and keep my bedroom around 60 degrees...yes, 60 degrees!!!  even though this symptom has radically improved I still wake up about an hour or two after falling asleep and need to peel off my PJ's and dry off...so I am pretty confident you will recover past this, so grab sleep when you can and keep reading and posting.

Best wishes...

PS...glad this latest mattress is comfy!!!

Thanks for responding guys. Ugh, not sleeping makes everything feel worse. The insomnia wasn't bad while I was still tapering, i was averaging seven hours a night. Maybe my hormones are messed up. Got my period a week early which never happens (sorry for the TMI).

I hate that we are all going through this but it's so funny how similar it all is I am so freaking heat sensitive it's not even funny my mom made me a rice pillow which is basically a piece of fabric with rice in it and I put it in the freezer and sleep with it by my feet because I get so freaking hot. My roommate would always complain because he said I'm like a polar bear I like to have the heat off even in the winter and in the summer I keep it at like 60 as well.if you want you can make a rice pillow just put rice inside of a piece of fabric and you can freeze it and it stays cold for a long time and is it wet like an ice pack mine is a lifesaver I live in a very hot part of California and during the summer it gets really hot so I have it on me at all times

Quick question...cooked rice or dry rice grains?

Thanks, either way I am going to try it!!!

Dry rice!!! Do not cook it. And if you don't have access to fabric you could use a plastic baggy but fabric is best. Also when it gets too cold you can put it in the microwave for up to two minutes. (Obviously not if you use a plastic bag) my mom sewed it for me but a basic one would work just fine. It has been such a life saver for me. It feels so good on your neck and face as well. When I had it bad I was SO hot all the freaking time. And the rice pillow saved my life let me know how it goes

Hehehehe, nope, I won't cook the rice....I have a pillowcase with zipper already in the freezer!
