One year since I started taper...95% healed!

Hey guys! Haven't been very active lately, because, well...I've been busy living life! I feel SOOO MUCH BETTER than I have since before this benzo nightmare. This time last year I would have random crying spells, racing heart, awful dp/dr, and wicked panic attacks. It got so bad, I would literally get scared looking at my own reflection! I had given up on driving...forever (so I thought), and almost sold my car. I was a nervous wreck, and honestly wanted to DIE. Now I'm at a point where my life is completely amazing and manageable. I recently got cast in a play with a great theater company, and I'm not even nervous for opening night! I'm actually excited. I had every symptom in the book besides hallucinations and insomnia. The only symptoms left are feeling nervous when I'm sitting with a group of people, and driving on the freeways. I think those will be the last to go. Just know that TIME HEALS...sorry, nothing I've found has eased any of the symptoms. Plenty of things made them worse (supplements, opiates, alcohol)...but sorry to say, nothing will speed up the process. Only time. The advice I can give others is to take it easy, do things SLOWLY to acclimate your mind to a normal life and eventually you will have one. Blessings to you all, feel free to ask any questions. I came back because this place really helped set my mind at ease during my darkest days.

Wow, congrats I'm very happy for you. I wish I can be healed or at least 80% healed by 1 year than I'm happy . One of my bad symtom is dp and dr. When did this leave you ? I'm 9 months and I notice it goes little better but I still feel not connected to the world. Thanks for posting . This gives me hope .

Hi Tracy, month 9 was the hardest month for me. A few days before New years, I got hit with a wave that lasted over 20 days and completely ruined my vacation to the bay area. I couldn't even sit in the passenger seat with my girlfriend driving because I was so nervous. I literally had to lay in the back and white knuckle through our trip, completely miserable. I feel like that was the last "big push", and once it passed, a lot of symptoms went away. Perhaps you're in a "big push" moment yourself.

Amazing success story! Congratulations!

Did you ever experience tolerance withdrawal while on benzos? What about working ability during/ after withdrawal? I wish you a happy new life!!!

Yes. I took them at first for anxiety during finals week, and decided to continue using them as I felt I had found a miracle drug that my doctor led me to believe was safe. I had my first panic attack during inter-dose withdrawl, and told my doctor and he switched me to

Klonopin. I took a month off from work, and then white knuckled my way through my shifts. It was hell, but I did not have a seizure or faint which I was scared of. Just terrified

Hi. Thank you so much for posting and congratulations!!  Your encouragement means so much!!  I was just wondering if you had paresthesia & skin burning sensation.  If you did, how long did it take to go away?

Hi I didn't mean to post that last post, tho wouldn't mind if you responded to that post, if paresthesia was part of your experience.  I'm new to this site and haven't figured it all out yet.

Thank you sooooo much for your post!!  It helps so much.  What I wanted to ask was in reference to your racing heart.  Do you remember when that went away?

Racing heart was horrible! It was especially bad right when I woke up, and for some reason if I took a nap it would be extremely rapid when I awoke. That got less and less severe and now I never wake up with a rapid heart beat.
