Klonopin Liquid Titration Questions

[Le...]

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am thinking I will switch to liquid titration for my remaining taper I'm now almost down to the last 0.5mg currently I am reducing at a rate of 6% every two weeks but think I could handle 7% or more.

Question #1 - What type of pestle & mortar is best, ceramic, glass, marble, wood, stainless steel etc?

Question#2 - I am getting my Klonopin prescribed in 0.25mg tablets I was thinking of switching to liquid once my dose gets below 0.5mg which will be in 3 weeks or so. How much liquid should I use to mix?

100ml/200ml??

Question #3- Should I go water or milk?

Question#4 - do I need an electric mixer?

Question#5 - It was stated on this site that you can get assistance with a liquid titration schedule giving 48 hours notice. How do I go about doing this taper in terms of reductions in ml and how frequent if aiming for 7 % every two weeks?

Question #1 - What type of pestle & mortar is best, ceramic, glass, marble, wood, stainless steel etc?

They all do the same job, but your really don't need one.

100ml/200ml??

.1mg per 10 ml (.01mg=1ml) makes calculations easy...just move the decimal point.

Question #3- Should I go water or milk?

K is NOT water-soluble, so that's not an option.  You can do milk, or you can dissolve the K in a little vodka or propylene glycol, then it can be diluted with water.

Question#4 - do I need an electric mixer?

No.

Question#5 - It was stated on this site that you can get assistance with a liquid titration schedule giving 48 hours notice. How do I go about doing this taper in terms of reductions in ml and how frequent if aiming for 7 % every two weeks?

Multiply % X your dose...ex: 7% X .5mg = .035mg

Divide that amount by the days...ex: .035mg/7day= .005mg/day reduction

Your daily schedule would be:

.5mg

.495mg

.490mg

.485mg

etc...

Ok thanks for the info, but in terms of number of pills used at some point obviously I'll be down to one 0.25mg pill would I still mix that with say 50ml of milk? Or once I'm down that far do I then up to 100ml of milk?

Also to be clear I would be removing 0.25ml day one then 0.5ml day 2 then 0.75ml day 3 etc until I reach the two week total?

Obviously it makes sense not to just waste pills

Regardless of your choice of liquid, I would encourage you do med-to-liquid ratio of either 1mg=10ml, or 1mg=100ml.

If you make your liquid batches in amounts to last 4-5 days (longer with vodka or PG)  and just draw out your DOSE, there is no waste.  Just look at the schedule in my previous post.

Drawing out your CUT and discarding is silly and wasteful.

Hi. Can you clarify this?

"Regardless of your choice of liquid, I would encourage you do med-to-liquid ratio of either 1mg=10ml, or 1mg=100ml."

So disparate, I don't understand...

Also, Builder, what is your current opinion on daily micro tapering vs. cut and hold? I'm cutting 4% every 10-14 days. Hold in between. At least for now.

Yeah think that avoiding anything alcohol based would be wise as it also down regulates GABA receptors so I am avoiding booze completely for the next year or so until healed.

Thanks for the advice

I'm not sure how to make it more clear.

For each mg of K that you dissolve, use either 10ml of liquid, or 100mg of liquid.

So the concentration in your liquid will either be 1mg=10ml, or 1mg=100ml.

The amount of alcohol will be so tiny it won't matter.

If you dissolve 1mg in 2ml of vodka, and add 8ml of water (1mg=10ml) then a .5mg dose would 1ml vodka, or .4ml  alcohol.

That's .2 (2/tenths) of a teaspoon.

Several Rx liquid benzos are manufactured with alcohol as a solvent.

But you can use propylene glycol in the same proportions.

Well anyway I think for temptations sake I'll go the milk route .

One other thing how do you keep the measurements nice when you have reached your two week reduction goal. Obviously you can't simply keep using the same number of pills and reduce by say 0.5ml per day as that will start meaning you're reducing more than 7% over a two week period. Do you end up having to grind up the pills and then weigh out amounts going to confusing decimals as you go along ?

Sorry I'm not sure if it's my benzo Braun but this seems really complicated

You don't "grind and weigh out" anything.  You just dissolve your tablets in a suitable liquid.

And when your cut rate exceeds your desired %age, you just change your cut rate.  For example, instead of cutting .5ml/day, you cut .4ml/day.
