Long story short, I woke up in the middle of the night and panicked about something. Then felt nauseous, hot and had to go to the bathroom to do number 2. I'm 7.5 months out the one symptom I've never had thanks god almighty was nausea. Can this happen? Has this happened to anyone? Ty

Gut-signalling from the intestines (as well as pre and post BM) can be a very active symptom-whipper and it was one of my plagues throughout this entire experience. It has all faded now - more or less.

I'm convinced that our guts are hugely implicated (second brain and all that) in a whole range of symptoms, that it is a very common experience and that the role our gut plays in all of this is greatly underestimated and unrecognised.

Eating a small pre-bed snack (milk & banana) regularised all of the night-time stuff for me as did actively regularising my 'movements' (potty training for adults!) to early in the mornings.

:)

Hello. Yes, this has been going in throughout. I've had so many symptoms I can't keep up. What about almond milk? I don't know what to eat anymore. Ty for your help.

I think - in my case I'm sure - that the gut heals over time as well. It's as if a substantial range of receptor damage is done in the gut alone (I've studied it up quite a bit) and this, the neglected arena, takes as much if not more time to heal as anything else - acknowledging that we're all different.

I didn't do anything "special" to bring this about, other than eating 'enough' good food regularly and a little more frequently including that pre-bed snack which I think is vital. There's way too much hoosh written about this out there on the net, with people becomming almost religiously fanatical about one or other type of diet and a whole OCD range of "musts" and "don't-dos". I say ignore the lot of em - you know what suits you best, and go with that.

There is one last thing I think is worth a thought. None of this is "mental" - including your panic. Panic is brought about by your body-state being physiologically primed to go into a kind of CNS shudder from exhaustion, depletion and an unfortunate coincidence of mis-firings due to WD and down-regulation. It is the body-state that fires off the panic/mental excitement (and the thoughts that go with it and seem to precede it) - not the other way round.

All the very best :)
