Oh Boy...14 days off and I am all over the place...

Hi Guys.  I am happy to have survived the jump relatively intact, but I feel like crap and the symptoms wax and wane.  At night, I have tingling toes and hot swollen feet, my stomach and everything connected to it is gurgling and swishing.  Excuse me for saying this, but I have these really random hiccup-like spells that happen anywhere, anytime IN FRONT OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY...But, the worst thing of all is the lack of sleep, depression and non-stop worry.  I am always thinking that I am going to die - if not now in a few months.  And, I feel so alone.  If anyone has had an experience akin to mine and lived to see the light of day, I would love to hear from you.

Best,

Sprinkly

I'm not sure what to say about the hiccups, might have something to do with w/d.

The feeling like you are going to die is, I think, is fairly normal for w/d.  I've heard others mention it.

Tapering and jumping from benzos can be a very lonely experience.  No one who has not been through it would ever be able to understand it.

Keep coming here to BB when you feel lonely.  There is always someone to talk to and help you get through it.

I don't know about the hiccups either, but the rest of what you're describing I've been through, and still am. Lack of sleep has lifted for me, but now I'm having super vivid dreams (not nightmares thank god) where, after I wake up, I start worrying about whos going to clean up the party I was having in my dream (this could go on for an hour). The depression is also very normal from what I've read and experienced, and the worrying.. Don't get me even started.

It will pass

Hello Sprinkly.

At 14 days off you are still in the acute phase where the symptoms can be the strongest. I had a "honeymoon" of sorts when I jumped off and then was hit hard at about one week off.  So much pain, my body was burning, no sleep, sweating, jerking.... the list goes on and on.  All this is pretty normal for withdrawal.

The best thing I did was try to distract myself as much as possible.  When I couldn't sleep I watched light hearted movies, sometimes day and night.  I'm not sure I even watched, but just having the movie on provided some distraction. I did puzzles, played Scrabble on the computer, did crosswords and read books. I also read Success Stories. All of these things are ways to fill the minutes, hours and days as the central nervous system recovers.

It will ease up with time, try to be patient and accept this process.

I'm not certain about the hic-cups, GI problems can be a part of withdrawal. I had to really clean up my diet during the early phases of withdrawal.

Sending good healing thoughts your way.

Count me in too! I had all of that!  :)

Well - except for the hiccups. Hiccups is a vagus nerve thing (as are palpitations) and will settle down in time along with everything else.

It is an awful phase to go through and no one will tell you it is easy - but plenty of people, including me, will tell you that you can do it and your symptoms will ease and fade with the passage of time.

As others have said, make yourself as comfortable as possible, engage in absorbing and interesting pastimes and allow time to be your healer
