titration instructions for ativan .250 x 3 day

I have been trying a switch to valium from .5mg of Ativan 2 times a day and really not liking the depressed lethargic feeling of valium plus having w/d along with it. Only 2 days into the valium, and considering doing a slow direct titration taper off the Ativan, but don't know how. I tapered off Ativan about 3 years ago and just jumped when I got down to about .5mg,

but it was a hell I don't want to repeat. I think I can eventually make the crossover to valium by enduring the w/d for another week or so, but not sure I want to feel like this for 4 months during the valium taper. I have done a direct taper with Ativan, but I was younger and I don't know whether I can tolerate the inter dose w/ds any more. I have .5mg Ativan pills, but can't accurately divide them into 10% cuts. What do I need to titrate the Ativan taper should I decide to abort the crossover.

1)  Ativan (lorazepam) is available (in the US) as an Rx liquid.  Talk to your doc.

 

2) You can liquify your tablets by dissolving them in  a small amount of alcohol (vodka) or propylene glycol.  Use 2ml of solvent for each mg of ativan.  Then dilute to a final concentration of 1mg=10ml.
