Switching back to K from V crossover !!!

Has anyone crossed over to Valium fro K and found they needed to just go back to K to finish taper? I've heard and read that some people don't handle V very well. I might be one of those people. As my sig shows I tapered K and then did the crossover based on Ashton. I know I may have tapered a bit quick on the V to start. But now holding at 10 V for a month, nothing is getting better. At least when I was on K, I could go out into the world and function even though it caused some health problems from tolerance. Now being on V, I am totally housebound with triple the symptoms. Looking to see if going back to an equivalent dosage of K might relieve some of what's going on or am I just asking for trouble? Has anyone done this with any success or found out that they had the same thing happen? It seems that even when I do a longer hold on the  V, it really doesn't do anything for me as far as feeling better or stabilizing. I held at 10V for a month and had maybe 4 or 5 of those days where I felt even remotely better. Now at 9.5, it's just the same thing. Thoughts and experiences please!!

I am wondering a similar thing as have had trouble trying to get the entire way down with both diazepam and clonazepam. I'd like to have a consensus from people who have tried both and succeeded with one and for what reason. So yup....beegging for insight, too.

Though one thing I can think of is this. Diazepam has officially got a longer HL than clonazepam, right? But there is debate in the benzo recovery community and scientific/medical community as to duration of action. Most in the latter say clonazepam has a LONGER DURATION OF ACTION but SHORTER HALF-LIFE.

If you run your numbers with some HL and steady-state calculators this may provide the answer or at least some insight.

The other thing is that clonazepam just binds much more strongly to certain benzodiazepine subunits. So the diazepam may just not be doing the trick to cover adequately at those specific subunits.

From seeing your sig from a little while back, it looks like you've been all over the place with meds. Luckily you can mix them around without to much trouble. I kind of agree with you on the K having a longer action time as compared to a shorter half life. I developed a few bad symptoms after 3 years on 1 mg of K taking.5 twice a day. Heart palpitations and periods of almost passing out about once every 2 weeks. I tapered down on K over a period of 2 months while introducing V during the crossover. That seemed to ok for the most part. But once I was on all V after the final taper of K, that's when all the sxs started heavy. I tapered the V too quickly at first perhaps but I've also held at 10 for a month and nothing changed. That's why I wonder if the V is causing all the problems. I know there will be withdrawal sxs but I never really had any during the K taper before going to the crossover. Maybe just a bit of anxiety here and there. Now I wonder if the V is making me almost unfunctionable  and being on it with longer holds to see if the sxs calm down, will I just be hitting tolerance again. I can't see going through this another year trying to see if I can stabilize at certain dosages. Especially if it is the V causing the problems. Then might as well just continue to cut some every couple of weeks and hopefully end it sooner and see how it goes after jumping. At least with the K, I knew what I was dealing with. Someone did ask me a while ago why didn't I just taper off the K instead of crossing over to V. I was just going by what i read that crossing over seemed to be the protocol. I might be close to done or finished if I would have just tapered from K. Hindsight though. I wish we could get more people's experiences with going back and how that turned out. If it is the V causing unnecessary comfort, I'm screwed for up to another year. If it's wd symptoms, then I get it. I'm leaning towards it being the V at this point. Isn't this fun? Come on people, chime in on this! We all need some guidance and reassurance at this crazy time. Thanks so much.

I realize that when I only use V I am a lot more lsuggish than if tapering with K. (or lowering doses/CTing). There's something about V that feels safe but at the same time sth uncomfortable about continuously feeding it to myself as the only med. I have developed heart palpitations recentlyt too since quitting/reducing K and increasing/introducing V again. My only other sxs are tinnitus, lethargy and depression. Oh and of course twtiches/fasciculations/jerks. But luckily no anxiety really or insomnia. I have had stronger/more vivd dreams.

Sorry I can't add much more. Wish i could. Personally I knwo I'd psychologically not be able to do a long taper, so I am tryin to find one which keeps me stable and off once done. Long tapers are unbearable for me as they depress me. I usually used to get things done and be succesful so constantly failing is really hurting my already broken and fragile ego. Benzos really suck our souls out.

If I get sxs after the jump I'll just use the odd 150,g Lyrica here and there and increase my yoga.

Have a read of the above....I  might use 300mg pregabalin (Lyrica) for 2-4 weeks once I am down to around 2.5mg diazaepam by tapering on in 75ng increments swiftly. Seems worth a shot as Lyrica helped me in the past.

For most people, clonazepam indeed has a longer duration of action than diazepam. Diazepam, after the initial distribution phase just sits in the fat cells for the most part. For some, it works ...
